Default SU! Rub Ons

I am thinking about using some of the SU! Rub Ons to decorate a candle holder.

Does anyone have any hints for me on using the Rub Ons?

I am a little nervous as in the past I have been "rub on challenged" as they always seem to come apart on me. My demo told me these were better, so I thought I would try them!

I have used the SU kind and other kinds and found them very easy to use. I just recommend cutting out the design you want to use first. As they are so close together that you may accidentally rub off a neibouring design. Hope all goes well for you.

I would just make sure to use light rubbing so you don't disfigure the candle itself.

Thanks for the responses. I am just putting it on a "hanging" candle holder so atleast it is not an actual candle. I will try it as I think it will look cute if it works out

I've done a ton of these. I washed and dried the glass first just in case there was dust or grime on it. One think I love about the SU rub ons compared to others I've tried, is that they are kind of sticky (not like glue) so you can place the image where you want it very easily. Then just hold on tight and rub! Anther thing I've been doing just because someone at an upline meeting said it was a good idea is to rubn the waxy backing paper over the image after laying it down. I'm not sure what it is doing except maybe making sure your image is down all the way. No worries if you mess up, just scrub the image off and start again!

Will you please post it in your gallery so we can see your finished product? Thanks.

Has anyone tried using anything to "seal" the rub ons after they are attached to the object???

My friend bought some rub-ons from SU to put on a candle. When she went to rub it on the candle, it would not come off, and she ended up denting her candle and ruining the whole thing because she had to rub so hard. She is pretty upset about it. We just attended a stamposium together, and they made it look so easy. Anybody have any tips?

You might be able to use Modge Podge - that should seal it and add a classy gloss.

I'm not sure that Modge Podge is safe to eat off of though so if you plan on having food on it then you may want to try something else.

Is Modge Podge fire proof? I'd be careful about what you put directly on a candle. I bought a pretty candle with glitter and the glitter started sparking like a 4th of july sparkler when I lit the candle and some of the glitter was in the melted wax near the flame. No damage was done but I don't buy candles with things that I'm not sure are fireproof or don't light the cande, which is silly because that's what you do with candles is light them, right?
