hum....I bought all the SU markers, and used them the first couple of years...but rarely, if ever use them now. I own no copics (yet?). I use my ink pads and refills a lot. When I color an item in, I generally use the aqua brush.
I like the technique where you color the stamp with markers, then huff and stamp...but I never do it.
I am thinking about getting the stamping up markers, are they good? I can not afford copics , I have tried them and I do love them.
Becky,
I have the SU markers and love them. I've had one set for 3 years and never had a problem. My other sets are about a year old. I've seen all of your beautiful work and think that you would enjoy them and create even more wonderful cards.
Your watercoloring is extraordinary. Markers will open up new possibilities for you. I love the dual tips and all the color choices. As a bonus use the fine tip to address your envelopes. Everything matches.
I have all of the SU markers, and I have all of the Copic's. I love using the SU markers for quick projects or for getting into small places that the Copics don't work well in. I have also being getting images in swaps and some of the images are stamped with inks that don't work well with Copic's so I use my SU markers. I love being able to have the choice. You will love the SU markers they are versatile and can be used on stamps as well. Enjoy them when you get them.
I say go for it. I like that you can replace ones as you need to. I hold classes in my home for about 15 girls a month, and some are not as gentle with my things as I am so they do need to be switched out once in awhile. I have stopped buying the ink pads because I can use the makers to color the stamp and they work just great. I have 72 copics and have never used them..I like to color and go, and these do the trick.
I LOVE my SU markers. I bought them four years ago and I use them on 98% of all my projects. I can easily refill them and they coordinate with the paper. They were a fabulous investment for me. SU markers are water based though and not the same as Copics which are solvent based - if that matters in your decision.
I LOVE my SU! markers and am so glad I made the investment (I bought mine during my hostess month as a member of a club so I got extra hostess benefits). I watercolor with my markers. I use an old CD as a palette, color on the CD with markers, then use a watercolor brush to pick up the color and paint. I love that I can "paint" in all 48 colors! Enjoy!

I like to use the markers on watercolor paper. Just a quick stroke of color and then going over it with a watercolor brush gives some really pretty results!!
Ok, sheesh I'm always the odd woman out - I've had my markers for years and I do like them, but...
The new tips do not last as long as the old ones - don't use them to color stamps if you want them to last
They are not the same when coloring images as with copics - they leave streaks, but the price is so much better than copics
I have colors I have rarely, if ever used - Instead of the entire set, get colors you know you will use, the savings isn't that great for a full set when you consider you might not use all the colors
If you are happy with using refills then there is not going to be much difference when watercoloring
If I had to pick my favorite marker for watercoloring it would be the Marvy Brush Markers - I'm not a color has to match person, but I do love to watercolor and the brush markers have amazing colors.

I have SU markers and they're great for coloring directly onto the stamps. I also love that they match with the SU inks and papers and can be used to watercolor with.
But they're not necessarily cheaper than Copics, which I like better for coloring images. With tax and shipping, a set of SU markers are around $150 (or $3 a piece). At places like Oozak, you can get a set of 36 Ciao Copic markers for around $116 with free shipping (or around $3 a piece) or order them individually for about the same price.
So I would just get whichever marker suits my applications more. Hope this helps. :-D
