Default SU Cable Knit dynamic embossing folder

I have a cuddlebug. I got the cable knit dynamic embossing folder and although the catalog says that it is 6" x 6" , it is not. It is slightly bigger and will not fit in the cuddlebug. Has anyone else had that problem? Has anyone tried to shave down the embossing folder? All the other embossing folders that I have that say they are 6" x 6" work in my cuddlebug, although it is a tight fit, but it works.

I, too, bought the cable knit ef thinking it would fit my cb, based on the catalog's listed 6x6 dimension. The folder is just a hair too wide for the cb. I want to shave off some but I don't know how to effectively do it. I don't know what tool to use to cut some off.

There are several suggestions for trimming an ef.

Yes, cutting with scissors would work with the regular embossing folders. BUT this is a dynamic one which makes it about three times as think and made out of way more sturdy plastic

if it's just a hair off maybe you could try sanding the edge down or use something like a planer type tool (typically used for wood)

Good point about this folder being thicker.

I was going to try my guillotine paper cutter. Otherwise, I have a husband that is really good at finding a way to fix anything and fixing it right, so I could have him take a look at the folder.

I think your best bet would be some type of saw........a jig saw perhaps? To insure a good clean cut it would need to be handled by someone who knows what they're doing. Other than that, I have taken plexi-glass to a window/glass place and had them cut it for me.........they could probably do something like this too.

A metal ruler and a razor knife would do it. You would probably have to do it in several shallow passes rather than one deep cut, but you'd end up with a clean edge. Open up the embossing folder, of course, so you're only cutting through one layer at a time...

I have this folder but it does fit through a Big Shot so the CB opening must be just a shade smaller. I agree with Sue, I’d use a metal ruler and what I would call a utility knife (or Stanley knife here in the UK, not sure if that brand name carries over the Pond) and several light passes rather than too much pressure in an attempt to cut through in one go.

Good luck!

Oh my! I had the same problem with my cable knit folder and gave up and sold it...now I am rethinking that decision! Great suggestions! I never even thought about cutting the folder down a smidge!!

Since my hubby has tools, I would take mine out to his shop and I would run the sides along the disc sander or the belt sander to remove a teeny bit off of each side.

Good luck,!

Utility knife was the term I was actually looking for, but I'm sick and have a serious brain fog going. Thanks for saying what I was wanting to say. ;) Stanley is a brand that we have here, as well, by the way...

Thanks! My whole office is passing around some kind of upper respiratory ailment - so fun! I think I'm slowly improving...

I used my hubby's tin snips and trimmed down one side. It's not pretty, but it fits and works!!!
