Hi everyone, I just made a card using mixed media c.s. I stamped with distress oxides and dried it. Then I used my embossing buddy to emboss some gold which worked fine except it was exceptionally hard to brush bits away. It is an abstract design so I can get away with the look of the stray bits I figure, lol, but I am curious of other's experiences with embossing on this cardstock or is the problem trying to emboss on distress oxides? Would appreciate anyone's thoughts.
Here is the card:
I have noticed that many things do not stick well over oxides--glues, tapes, other inks, and Versamark. If my Versamark would not adhere well then neither could my embossing powder. I have no technical knowledge to explain this, I just have noticed this since I began using Oxides.
Anyone else?
Thanks Loyce for your reply. I made the card which is basically a case because of one I saw on Simon Says Stamp' s blog recently. The person used watercolor c.s....Probably you are right, it is not really the c.s. that is the problem. I think it might be the oxides as you have said.
I can't use embossing powder when using Ranger ink earlier on the same card. I don't know if Ranger inks has something where the embossing powder sticks to it.

Distress Oxides often take a LONG time to dry and so will remain sticky for embossing powder, even after using an embossing buddy (after all, you can’t be sure you covered it all. KWIM?). I have seen experts (Laura Bassein, Jennifer McGuire come to mind) that pour EP over a Distress Oxide card to see if any sticks BEFORE adding the embossing buddy.]’bossing ink and powder; if any powder sticks, it’s still so they heat dry it and test again, and again, until nothing sticks.

I think thatyank got it right that it's the DOX not being completely dry. Having said that, I have been having trouble with my gold embossing power lately on just stamped Neenah with no ink blending. I am blaming the weather because one day it's fine and the next day there's so much residue I can't even brush it away without destroying the design. And, it's only my gold that's acting up. Weird. Good luck.

What a great tip from the experts. Thanks for posting.
