I also use the SU Ink wall-mount holders and love them. I have 1 of the Dyzntac (SP??) acrylic holders, which I adore too but those are no longer available directly and really expensive on the secondary market! I will need to get another ink unit next year with new in colors unless I free up more space in my current units (by giving up the Brilliance pads, which I don't want to do!)

I have the portaink and love it. When you need to take your pads somewhere it has a piece you add so your ink pads don't fall out. The only down side is it holds 48 - so I've put my in color & basics in the original SU color family boxes. Soon - I guess I'll purchase a second portaink.
RCarter.....thanks for the additional information on the Portaink. I'm looking for something that only houses ink pads and will fit flush against the wall, but not be wall mounted. That's why I went with the Organize more model. Plus though it is expensive, it's still cheaper than others I've seen.
FYI PortaInk comes in two formats...one that holds 48 and can be transported and one that holds 24 and can either sit flush against the wall (that's what I do) or can be mounted. I have 6 of the stationary ones and I love them. I sold my SU ones to pay for them.
I have the old wood cassette holders. I have one that holds 100 pads. (Almost) full). and one that holds 30 for my non SU pads. I also found them at thrift stores or yard sales. I have also sold some on craigslist.

Reason: Removed that she has cassette holders currently on Craigslist.
I have this one too and I love it. It is terribly cheap so it gets my vote. No offence to those who like what they use, but most tape cases I have seen are kind of ugly. Black plastic or lovely wood grain! The palace isn't beautiful but it is plain and can be decorated. It is surprisingly sturdy for cardboard but I do recommend it be wall mounted or left on a flat surface, preferably against a wall. I wish I had room for a turntable style one but alas, I cannot complain in the presence of you poor souls who do not even have a craft room at all!
I prefer a style with shelves also which is something for others to consider when choosing. Do you like certain colours to stay together? That is harder with the styles that are basically a slot for all the colours in one column, replacing the most recently used pad to the top of the pile. I like that my pads are returned to the same place they came from without having to lift the pile to place a pad back in its spot. That is the main reason I no longer use the boxes they came in. If you look at the link someone else left, you can also get drawers now if you like.
I have also heard of a way to use wire shelving lengths purchased from a hardware store, placed vertically against a wall with spacers, allows the pads to sit between the wires. I can't remember exactly how it was done, maybe it required 2 lengths of shelving placed a bit less than an ink pad length apart so each ink pad sits on two wires? But it was apparently quite simple, not too expensive and very customizable. I think I heard of it on here, maybe someone who is better at searching the forums than me could look it up. I can't imagine where else I would have heard of it.

Hi pjw2855,
Yes the PortaInk will hold the new size pads for SU and CTMH, the old style SU fit when you use inserts or you can turn them on the side to fit. The 39.99 price is 2 standards, swivel base, 2 travel covers and handle. More pictures and info at lafrei.com/portaink.htm
I ordered from the other guys and had to return the unit cause of quality issues after waiting 6 weeks to get it and several more for a refund. Then I ordered one from The Creative Country Crafters on Ebay and they custom made the size I wanted and shipped within a week! And the quality was unbelievable. The guy makes them himself and he is a real quality woodworker. They were cheaper to boot.
I like my pads all visible at once, so I my hubby helped (table-saw department) make one that fit my space and held all my pads. I got the idea from some sellers on Ebay, but mine was under $4 for supplies, and the Ebay ones are about $40+.
I bought one of these off of ebay. I really like it it holds a bunch of pads as well as being wall mountable or free standing. Wasn't thinking or I probably would have made my own also.

This is my ink storage:Ink Pad/refill storage by K. Benko at Splitcoaststampers
This is an older picture of my first one now I have one that is 20 high so it holds 80 ink pads and reinkers.
I have a fellow in my town who is retired and makes them, very reasonable priced I think. He has made several since my first one and shipped many places.
((Hugs))

Oh, my gosh, I think I've found the answer. I love this! I think it will be a lighter weight than the nice heavy wood ones. I know they cost less, and they are wall mountable. The only thing they don't have are the holes for the reinkers, but I think I can live without those.
Thank you for the idea!
I like the look of the wooden ones and even bought one off eBay (but betware--mine had small slots, so the pads really jutted out the front!).
The wooden ones concern me--even if painted. Wood gives off lignin and acid, so I don't like it for storing my ink.
I just bought my 2nd SU! Color Caddy--I love both of mine! I have heard the complaints and wonder why some people have this trouble. You don't want it to spin too quickly--is that what concerns them? I use lazy susans around my house, but I wouldn't want my inkpads spinning that rapidly! If you put the cushion pad on the underside, it should help "grip" to the table top while still allowing turning.
The portainks do look nice--I just knew I didn't need to port mine around--I have stampin' spots for taking places.
I don't know if the Craft Lockers are still being made, but they had a great inkpad holder. I have their ribbon and wheel lockers and love them.
For my SU ink I had the SU Caddy. I also have all of the CTMH inks and markers. I treated myself to Dek Developments caddy and have loved it. I had originally stained it, but when I moved this summer I painted it white, I guess I need to take photos of my room now that I am settled!

I'm all for saving money and space sooooo....I actually just keep mine in the cardboard boxes they came in when I bought the sets. I have a bookcase just to the right of my desk and I keep a lot of stuff there because it's in plain sight and within arms reach. You can make the boxes sit diagonal but I was afraid my ink would sink to the back so I just folded the box so it sat upright. Honestly for me it works just as well as or better than an ink caddy. It keeps my desk free and doesn't take up a lot space but is still out for me to see and grab really easy. As for my other inks (staz on, versamark, etc) which I don't have a lot of, I just have them stacked on a hanging shelf I bought from IKEA for like a dollar, right under the bar I hang my punches on. I also have like a ton of tiny versacubes from when I first started stamping...I keep them in clear rectangular tackle box style boxes in a drawer:-)
I ordered a wooden one and the slots were only 3.5" deep as you mentioned. I returned it cause of splinters and cracks; it was poorly made. Then I got another one from Creative Country Crafters on Ebay and their slots are 7.5" deep. Much nicer and they store into the slots nicely.

Yes, this is definitely the BEST unit out there!!! I did a lot of research before purchasing this one, and believe me, I am NOT disappointed. Sue (the owner) is amazing to work with, and her products are AWESOME! I wrote about it, and shared several pictures here. You can see I store my Stickles, Copics, stamp pads of all kinds, etc., in here. You will be VERY pleased with this unit.

I am on the hunt for a cassette holder now, what a great idea! Right now my pads are all in a plastic tote bin, but I have to dig through it everytime I want to find an inkpad, which takes time, plus I am running out of room. If I buy any more pads I won't be able to fit the lid!
Since I use Black, Chocolate Chip, Versa Mark and StazOn all the time, I keep them in a small plastic tray on my desk with all my other small "Essentials" (tape runner, Paper Snips, Mat Pack, bone folder, dimensionals).
