I have both brown and black in Momento ink but need a softer look for what I'm trying to create right now. I have Tim Holts Antique Linen distress ink just wondering if this would be ok to use to stamp my image and colour with copics. Just asking before trying since I don't want to damage my copics!!

Hi Mikki
Distress Ink shouldn't damage your copics but it may bleed. If you have clear embossing powder then you can emboss the distress ink and you will not get any smearing/bleeding.
I am a little biased here, but from all the products I have tried and used, I would recommend Flourishes Classic White cardstock or Neenah Solar White, Memento Ink, and I LOVE coloring in Flourishes stamps!! hope that helps.

We had our Thanksgiving dinner yesterday, so did not get round to my creation. But I did stamp the images with Tim holts and clear EM powder ready to colour. Clear powder is ok for my Copics right? I will post this soon as it's done. I actually cased it and it is one of the flourishes images, love love love their stuff!!
Ok, slow on this I know, but WHICH weight of Neenah Solar Crest do you use. The layering weight or the heavier weight? I like to use lots of layers so I am assuming the layering weight, but don't want to get it and then not be able to use it. Thanks!

I just went to Staples this week. They are an office supply store here. I got their store brand 110 lb card stock and have been very happy with it. It is bright white and very smooth. My Copics blend well with a little bleed through.
The best part? 250 sheets for $14.99!
As far as stamps go, just look for ones that have a more "open" design. They are great fun to color and comealive with Copics! Have fun!
COPIC X-Press It - Blending Card hands down is the BEST IMO. I have also used Neenah, PTI, Gina K, Walmarts brand, and SU!. There is a HUGE difference.

I agree..... X-Press It Blending card is the best for blending etc. However it isn't true white, it has a greyish tint but unless you are using a really white cardstock on your project it isn't noticable. If I am using white cardstock or paper I use Gina K in either 80lb or 120lb which I also love. The shipping on Gina K is really reasonable too, some friends and I put in an oder together and had it shipped here to New Zealand and the rate was really good and the service was fantastic.
I am a newbie to the copics--getting ready to try them out--bought some digis and gina k pure luxury paper. Question--Is anyone else having trouble getting the gina k to go thru their printer? Since I have digis, I really need this to work? I have an HP photosmart all in one. I put regular 65 lb card stock thru it regularily with no problem. I tried some copic card stock, a little lighter than the gina k--works sometimes--hit and miss--more miss... ;0) Appreciate any feedback--Thank You!
I did a test with my copics on several different brands of cs and found the best to be smooth bristol for white cs, which is an art cs and available in art stores and even my grocery store. Some copic colors can appear speckled or mottled on certain papers, which has to so with paper substrates and dye density in some of the copic colors. A lot of people don't notice it but I find it distracting when one color does it right next to a color that doesn't. It was the least noticeable on smooth Bristol out of all the cs I tried.
I bought the Gina K and I am not a fan...too "watercolor" for me and I really had a hard time blending. That said, I had no issue running it through my laser printer for digital stamps.

Cat, what do you mean by "watercolor"? I'm curious.
I know that with denser papers (and Gina K is a dense paper) that the ink sometimes sits on top and if you add too much too quickly it will turn shiny and and actually allow you to push it around. Is this the look you are getting?
If so, you can easily eliminate that by inking a bit more slowly (so the ink has time to soak into the fibers) and by using "flicks" to apply the ink instead of doing the "small circles"
I've actually seen some people do beautiful stuff with the "pooled" ink that can sometimes happen on dense papers... giving it a neat texture.
Whichever paper you end up loving... have fun coloring!

Does anyone know if there's a site where I can purchase several different brands of paper?
One of these days I really want to try the copics. I just saw on a YouTube video that Georgia Pacific is a good paper to practice on - for beginners - because you only pay around $5 for 100 sheets. (So far I haven't found it in an actual store). When I finally want to try the good, more expensive paper I want to purchase the Gina K.
I know it isn't that big a deal, but it would just be nice not to have to order 2 different brands of paper from different websites. I guess what I'm looking for is something similar to overstock or bluemoon scrapbooking. (In that they sell products from several different companies: stickers, punches, dies, embossing folders, etc.) I just hope there's a site out there that includes different brands of cardstock, too.

I think the Hammermill you should be looking for is the Color Copy COVER I think BJ's sells the 250 sheet ream of 80lb for about $13
I belong to Costco. I'll take a look there and see if they have it. If not I can also check Staples or Office Max. I could always get it on line too. Thanks.
I'm new here and just purchased my first Copics from Oozak. I really want to get some x-press it cardstock but I don't want to buy the big package (plus it's out of stock there.) Can you tell me where is the best place to get one of the 10 or 25 sheet packages currently?

Colleen....I just spotted your reply. By "watercolor" I mean that the color is blotchy and I had a real hard time blending on it.
I tried Prism Simply Smooth and I love it...easy to blend, colors look great. I haven't played around with Neenah too much and XPress It is on it's way (thanks to Colleen at Making Our Mark).
I know about Georgia Pacific and my LSS store carries a paper that all the local Copicers seem to love...but, as a newbie, I have trouble controlling the bleeding.
BTW..."flicking" is the only way I seem able to color. I tried little circles and gave up.

NO Versafine will smear on your markers and may ruin the nibs
I think there are a couple of other inks that some people use , but I only use Memento . Hobby Lobby sells Memento or you can mail order it .
I also just read an old question from someone wanting a softer color of lines for an image
I used Memento Potters Clay
Colored pencils and OMS work beautifully on Neenah, if you don't like it with Copics.
See if you can find some Hammermill color copy paper at your office supply store, it is amazing with Copics. Inexpensive too.

There are a lot of different CS's to try and I've seen many different tutorials on ways to color using copics. I'm using Memento Tuxedo Black for my ink and like to clear emboss my image before coloring.

I really like the classic crest solar white cover stock- It also makes a fab card base, as it is super sturdy! I but mine at a Fas Clampitt. I haven't noticed any blending problems, but then I color opposite- I start dark and move to light- that's just how I see shadows. For ink I have had luck with palette noir, and memento, altho I have had some minor smearing when using yellow If I don't let the image set for a while. Good luck and welcome to the addiction. I love coloring!!!!
Rosie - I think she is referring to one of the Hammermill Color Copy Covers which is heavier. I use 60# for the most part, because I layer EVERYTHING, but it also comes in 80 and 100 which I occasionally use if the image itself is not mounted on anything.
