Go for the spots...just don't forget to buy the re-inkers and you'll probably never need to buy the larger size. The spots are all I use. Also 2 sets will fit into a clam-shell container that back-ground stamps come in. I also store mine up-side-down so the ink is always on top.
The spots are very popular with my customers. I actually find that inking up a background stamp is quicker with a spot--I know this doesn't seem right, but since it's so little and easier to grasp, I can quickly get the whole stamp inked up quickly.
I got the spots when I signed up to be a demo, and I've used them for two years without reinking. It's great to have all the colors without such an enormous expense.
i cant wait to order them!
you all have excited me so much!
i just dont know the difference between classic and craft. arent the craft ones the one that just sit on the paper and take a while to soak? i could have sworn i just read that in a thread.
They are great for distressing edges because they are so small they go on very easy and they are very handy. I have mine in one of the tin punch containers that came from SU and they all fit in there.
The Craft are pigment inks...they take longer to dry. These are good for embossing. The Classic inks are more quick drying and are good for everyday stamping.
I don't have a lot of reasons to stamp solid colors so for me, buying the full pads didn't make much sense...I prefer line art stamps because I like to color them to match my DP, but I did order the spots in the two color families that I use the most. I might go ahead and buy the others, too. I like the lsmaller ones to do BG stamps also. LOL Thought I was the only one. I can get my hands on it and pounce away to town on the BG stamp.
Love my classic spots and never use the full size pads I have. Will now start getting the craft spots and don't forget you can get uninked spots (several gourd supply companies carry them) and make your own "in color" spots!
The craft ink is great for embossing with clear EP, stamping color on color (such as Navy on Red), and for coloring chipboard. For the last 2, definitely use a heat tool to dry and set the ink. That brings out its true color.
I've been stamping for 5 years and still using my spots...just recently had to reink some.
I do have a large black, basic brown, chocolate chip....ones I use lots!
Go for the spots!!

It is a great buy. I have all four color families (dye ink not pigment). I also bought reinkers a few at a time. What I do is when I find I am using a color a lot because I really like it I buy the big pad. The spots travel real well for club dates or crops. Each family will fit in a clamshell SU box. I don't remember which size.

OMG i so need to get the crafts now....thanks everyone... i just need to get some money! i only need a heat tool and ink. i have so much stuff already. hahaha like a cuttlebug and ribbon some paper
I bought my original 8 spot sets 4 years ago and now Im working on collecting a second set of each family. The majority of the time there is 35 or more of us at each gathering. We find we are waiting for each other to get done with a spot versus use the full size pad. Ive repeatedly found that spots are more comfortable for the under 6yrs and a lot over 60 folks. Spots offer more control and easier to open. Folks will ask for the spots if presented with full size pads over 80% of the time.
Oh and ......They are also perfect size to pack when traveling.
Organizational Hint for all generations:
--Take a mini catalog cut out and taped each color family to the lid of its stamp case. Which I also store upside down
-- The pads themselves dont always appear match the printed lid label. Mark the bottom of each pad with the initials of the color. Just in case a lids get swapped.
wow, I must be one of the few people who never liked the spots. My first purchase was a box of Soft Subtles spots, cuz my Demo at the time gave the same advice all of you have given.
Since then I bought the Tags Punch set which came with a few . I think I used maybe two of the SS and never opened any of the others.
I find economically they are smarter for demos cause you can eventually get doubles and easier to share... Also they make a cute background if you just press them down - a perfect square! I find they do fray a bit more than pads- maybe cause edges are not protected and clients are rougher than you are on your stuff but for the price I would rather those got wrecked. I usually try to demo at least one card at a gathering with full sized to explain benefits of full size ie. using top as palette... so they have options but mostly for new fol I recommend getting spots cause hey, in 4 classes with their minimum purchases they have all the colours!!! Funny I have had other demos say really you only have XX pads??? I buy the basic colurs and my favs in large- rest in spots
I love my spots, such an inexpensive way to have all the colors in a family...and a great way to decide what you need in a full size! Has any one had the problem of having the ink leak out onto the wrapper somehow though?

I love my spots as well and I too have had the ink leak onto the wrapper with one or two of them but I find that is normally only after I reink it and turn them upside down for storage. I find I have to let them settle before I put them away.
