Maybe I'm not the first to notice this, but here goes.... I love the look of the Level 2 Hostess set, In the Spotlight. However, I was thinking about how much cutting would be involved, so I put it out of my mind. Until today. I was looking at the set, then had the lightbulb moment and flipped back to the punches. JACKPOT! You can use the 5-Petal Flower punch, the Scallop Circle punch, and the Snow Blossom punch to perfectly match three of the largest images, as well as the circle punch to cut the circle images. This set has moved to the TOP of my must-haves!!!
Nonda- I just saw the samples on that page today, (takes a few times through to see everything!!) and loved how they work with the punches. I only got the scallop, but I will have to go back and order the flower later!!
Am I reading the catalog correctly that you get the In the Spotlight set in addition to your hostess benefits with a $300 party?????
Becky
Well, sort of. The wording on P16 is sort of ambiguous. They are using In the Spotlight as an example of what hostess set (Level 2) you can get for a $300 party.
So you could pick In the Spotlight OR another Level 1 or 2 set, plus $35 of free merchandise, not another Level 2 PLUS In the Spotlight (you don't get this set ON TOP of all the other stuff listed in the Hostess Benefits chart on that same page).
I now *need* "In the Spotlight." I signed up as a hobby demo just this month so couldn't preorder it. I wasn't planning on spending $300 at a time on any order, but maybe I'll do it on my first order. With the 30% discount it wouldn't be so hard to explain to DH! There's definitely $300 worth of merchandise I *need* anyway!

It's pretty easy to spend $300 on a new catalog because there is so much great stuff! Those three punches alone (Snow Blossom, 5 -Petal Flower, and Scalloped Circle) alone will get you almost $43 toward your $300! For a new demo it is important to have a lot of accessories, and not as many stamps (you can get a lot more variety with one stamp set, but lots of accessories, than you can with lots of stamps, but very few accessories) so make sure you check out all the cool stuff in the back of the catalog!

I may be a new demo, but have LOTS of stuff. I've been a very good customer. ;) Even though I do want lots of stuff from the back. Even though the first order as a new demo isn't a 'workshop' order, can I still get hostess benefits with it? Or is the 30% off considered benefits enough?
So this isn't a complete hijack...would the 1/2" circle punch work for the smaller circles, or does it need to be the 3/4" circle like was used in the example? It looks like the stamps are too big for the 1/2" circle, but just want to check!

You do get hostess benefits on to p of your 30% discount -- isn;t that great?
Also, the 1/2" circle punch is just a little too small for the whole image on the small round stamps and the 3/4" punch leaves a slight border. You can see it on this card I used the 1/2" circle punch for the centers of the flowers and used the 3/4" circle punch for the "thank you".
Are there any other stamps that coordinate with the 5-petal flower and snow blossom? I know of Snowfall and Ginormous Flowers. I don't want to go through the trouble of searching the catty once again if someone else has already figured this out. They probably created the stamps after the punches and plan on putting this particular set in a future catty for purchase or if they'll just create more stamps to make the use of the punches more versatile.
Unfortunately no one has the punches yet, though some people are being very inventive using tracing paper to see what images fit what punch. SU tells us sometimes, but not always. I'm sure as soon as the first punches arrive someone will make a template and let us know how else we can use the 5 petal flower and the snow blossom punch.
I love In the Spotlight, but will have to wait to get it on ebay! I've already had one SU! show, and I don't think I could find any more people to come to another one. (I'm not a demo, either.) The idea about the punches is great; you are all so creative!
