http://www.stubbystampers.com/spirellisteps.htm this site has a tutorial on it. I went to a class last month. Its really fun. The punches needed are very expensive in my opinion. Good luck.

I don't think you really need punches. I know Spellbinders do some suitable dies, but personally any time I've done it, I've just printed a suitable shape with zig-zaggy edges from clipart, and used that - I've just handcut them. I'd imagine a scalloped punch shape should work, too.
It's pretty easy, give it a go .
There are a couple of nestabilities in spirelli appropriate shapes and there are shapes available for Silhouette for spirelli. I don't know about Cricut.
I have two spirelli punches that came in a relatively reasonably priced kit from HSN but I don't think they sell it anymore. I like having the two- they are matched shapes in different sizes, but I think if you liked to add a spirelli embellishment to some cards, one would do fine.
I know when I was shopping for mine the prices varied greatly, so do check out several sites before you buy.
I just looked at the tutorial because I'd never heard of this technique. They are pretty, but look like a lot of trouble for an embellishment. I'll probably stick to flowers, buttons and brads.

Bugga- they are actually quick and easy- and something you can carry to work on in a waiting room or someplace like that.
I have to agree with some of the other people that this technique is very easy and fast. It usually takes me about 1-2 minutes to do one. I would recommend buying either a punch or the spellbinders nestabilities dies. It is a pain to cut out the shapes --- especially if you are doing alot of them. I have 6 of the spirelli punches and they can be quite finicky and they are expensive. Between the two, I would recommend the nestabilty spirelli dies.

Spellbinders have two sets of spireli shaped dies on clearance right now ($4.99). I purchased them just recently at GASC. I was glad to find them that price price, I believe it's about 50% of the original.
