ok so I've been thinking about this new "punch".... I have CB, BS, many nesties and hand punches...do I "need" this? of course I "want" it but how will it help my craft room.

From what I've seen so far, this isn't anything I really have a need for. It's larger than I thought it would be, and I have plenty of punches already.
It's a pass for me.

I must get this.. I love it, and it will make the need of all those punches unecessary. I know I would keep some of my punches but not all of them. I love this new machine. I am also very excited about the 13ft extention plate for my CB!!
I saw the video, and while I think it's a really cool little machine, I don't see where it can totally replace punches. Especially when you want to punch out a window in a card.
I'm also excited about the longer plate for the Cuttlebug. Now that's something I can use.

I thought the dies are really cute, great for cardmaking because they are small/mini nesties look. But the machine....is another story, lol. Pressing the button to cut and then press another button to release the die from the punch is just a little slow for me, plus waiting for the sound. I like my toaster better. And I still need my cuttlebug for my nesties.

If the extension is 13 ft....then I need a whole new craft room as mine is only 8 x 12 feet now.....

I saw this at CHA and wasn't at all impressed. At first I thought it would be good for someone with RA or arthritis but after talking with someone with RA who was at CHA, the fact that you have to hold the button down (and then up again!) is a huge drawback. Add the 8 AA batteries (the adapter isn't included and will be a separate purchase on top of the $70 machine!) to the mix and it doesn't seem like it is worth it. PLUS...nobody at the booth demoing it would say whether old smaller Nestie dies would work in the machine or if the new punch dies would work with the Wizard or other machines.
It's neat that it embosses but I think most people already have a die cutting machine of some sort that they can use with Nesties and maybe the new dies (if they work...you have to buy them and try them out on your own in order to find out because nobody is officially endorsing whether they work or not universally). I flat out asked the women demoing if the new dies worked in the Wizard and was told "we're not marketing it that way." I asked again and was told "we haven't tried it."
Oh, plus I found it annoyingly loud...like too loud to use when people are sleeping in my house and I'm stamping at night.
I think if you're looking for a truly electronic machine you're better off with a Sizzix Big Shot Express.
Thank you Kate, a review like this helps from someone who was there. I won't be purchasing but it would be realllllll nice if the new dies for it could be used in the cuttlebug like the regular dies. I LOVE all the different labels.
Did you get a look at the dies....do they seem like the same that they could be used in the cuttlebug? I'm thinking it has to be the same metal and thickness of metal, kwim.
The regular nesties emboss too so I don't get how that is a marketing feature for this machine?
They totally looked the same. My guess is that they work but I'm not going to try it and risk breaking my machine because it isn't authorized by Spellbinders. Customers shouldn't have to do the prodcut testing - the company should, especially with their own other products like the Wizard.
When I asked if they worked it was almost one of those questions I asked half thinking I already knew the answer and was flabbergasted when I was told "we haven't tried it." How about, turn around and go to the table less than 2 feet away with the Wizard on it and try it?
I don't like that you can't multitask with it. I would expect an electric machine to be able to push a button and let it do its thing while I go off and do something else but that isn't the case here. You have to hold the button down to make it work.
Believe me - I'd love to sell these in my store but I just don't feel right selling a product I myself wouldn't be happy using.
An awesome review hon thank you so much. You just saved me a ton of monies.
They probably figure if they say they'll work in the wizard and leading die cut machines then people will think to themselves why buy the $70.00 machine, kwim.
Maybe I'll try out one of the 10.00 label sets that all kinds of webstores have on sale for preorder right now in the cuttlebug. Notice I am realy wanting it to work. LOL I love the labels. *chuckle*
I {heart} my Nesties and all the new shapes and all the new Labels. If the new ones work universally (which I would hope since SB has always stood on a platform that their dies are universal in any machine) then I will carry those. And, it would benefit them if they do because I think people will buy the dies even if they opt not to get the machine.

Well that's kind of disappointing to hear--not about your store not carrying this machine, but about having to hold the button down. You'd think that you could just press the button and voila!
I'd buy those dies if someone says they'll work in my CB. I liked the dies.
And Kate, might I save that I love your store and your customer service is absolutely wonderful!!!!!

Thanks. *smiles*
If SB officially confirms they work in machines other than the Presto then I will stock them but I wouldn't want to sell something and have someone break their machine by accident. There are some cute new dies for it but I'm really gaga over the new Labels and the large circle and oval scallops. YUM!!

From the one video I watched, the person in it said that the dies could be used with the cuttlebug as well, so at least that is a good thing. I myself wasn't impressed with it, which is good cause then I'll have more money to spend on something else.
I hope that I do this right. It is my first time to participate. I saw the new machine at CHA and was not impressed. Too many steps. Did they mention that the paper can only be the size of the template holder? They have not planned for the templates to be interchangeable with the Wizard or any other die cut machine. The motor sounds like it is in pain the whole time it is running. They did not even ask us if we wanted any when we placed our order. Sorry for all of the negativity. I love a new machine like the rest of you.
I have come to the point in my life where less is more. How many machines does one need? Do we have the space for all this stuff? and frankly, when we're gone...what in Heaven's name will our loved ones do with all the stuff we have collected over our stamping lives? I don't want to leave that burden. Sorry to sound maudlin. I'm actually quite an optimist and joy-filled person, but I think we have to put limits someplace in our lives no matter how much we think we must have instant gratification. Sorry...just my op here.

I saw the video and didnt impress me. It just seemed the whole thing for one little die took to much time. Seems like I could run something thru my cuddlebug much quicker. In person it might be different, so I'd have to see it, in person.
So what is the easiest method to cutting out a window in the center of a card? I've seen many cards like this, but the punches don't reach deep enough??? Help!

My question is what about the size of these things? From the videos I watched, they looked pretty small................It looked like it might replace my itty bitty punches, but not my SU regular sized ones. Am I wrong here?

The actualy folder that you put in the machine that holds the punches is 2-1/2" square so that would be the maximum size that would fit into the machine. The largest punch I have seen is a wrapped present which is approximately 2" square. According to Spellbinders website the largest in most of the sets is 1-3/4".
