I am not sure what machine I would like my husband to buy me for Christmas. Which machine is better and what is the difference between them? I have looked on Oh My Crafts web site and I like them both.
I have the Sizzix Texture Boutique and I love it. I got it with a coupon for around $14. It's compact and embosses like a dream. It' VERY easy to use.
That said, now I kind of wish I would have bought a Cuttlebug. You can use cutting dies in the CB, where you can only use embossing folders in the Texture Boutique (TB). I thought that since I didn't have anything before that the embossing only would be enough.
I have the Bug...I've had it about 3-4 yrs now. I still love it!! It does both embossing and die cuts. I don't know anything about the textured big shot, so I can't help you there. My boss gave me a gift cert a few years back for Michael's. I used my certificate, and I also had a 50% coupon. I bought it in Delaware, where there is NO sales tax, and walked out with a FREE Bug!! It doesn't get any better than that!!
I think you would be happier with the Cuttlebug myself. It does more and you have soooo many possibilities for both dies and the embossing folders. They are little workhorses too. I use the heck out of mine and have had it for over 2 years now. It is still going strong...they are great little machines.
blessings.
I agree with the others who vote for the Cuttlebug. I think that the difference in price would more than make up for the versatility of the CB. I know the 'little purse' look of the other machine is cute but I think you will outgrow its use really fast.
I have had my CB for 1 1/2 yrs and have it out on my workspace so it is ready to be used. I have the Big Shot. Because I had the CB first, I find that I am just used to the CB sandwiches and they doesn't slow me down.
Good luck for whichever machine you decide to buy.
If you don't have a die cutter yet, I'd say the Cuttlebug would be the better choice. I have the Big Kick but bought the Sizzix Texture Boutique to keep right at my desk. It's light and easy to grab and do a quick embossing. The BK is on the other side of the table so it would take more time and effort to use. I love the TB for that.
Thank you very much for the help in deciding. I decided on the cuttlebug. I think I got a good deal on it. I paid 57.99 for it. I got it on Oh My Crafts web site. I am going to tell my hubby it is a gift from him. He told me to go ahead and order it so I did.
Now I just hope I can figured out how to use it and find time to use it.
I bought the embossing purse because I could not justify buying a Cuttlebug as I have a Cricut machine for die cutting. So I decided to get the embossing purse. I love my purse. Not only can I use the embossing folders, I can use my brass stencis in it and some of the embosing & cutting tools (ex. Spellbinders Nestabilities and Nellies Multi Frames). I just purchased the rubber mat used with the Spellbinders machine. I have been having a ball. Laurie
