The punching gadget she used is called a 'punchmate' here in the UK, they are pretty widely available here, and stuff is usually over here long after its available in the US, so an online search should throw them up for you

I've only had my Cricut for a little while and never heard about the tan mats. What are they for and why can't I use the plates I have?
Thanks for helping.

The tan embossing mats are used with manual ( or electric) die cutting and embossing machines. They are like a soft mouse pad and used as a cushion for embossing. They are made by Spellbinders .
I don't have a Cricut, but I think I understand how they work and I doubt you would use them with a Cricut.
Someone correct me if I am wrong, but a Cricut does not emboss it just cuts
When I suggested a Cricut could be used to cut the pieces I only meant to cut them . You still need a pasta roller type machine ( manual or electric) to do the embossing
I hope this clears things up

Sorry, I didn't mean Cricut, I meant Cuttlebug. My head is somewhere else lately.

I didn't read all the posts, but I was told -and did buy it- that a plumbers gasket from home depot is a lot cheaper. you get 2 of them, sheets that I had to cut about and inch or 2 off of to get it the right size.

I'm wondering... could you use a "C" plate instead of a "B"? That would keep from having top use shims, wouldn't it?

For the person who wanted the Wizard sandwitch. I have a purple Wizard. I glued two pieces of chip board together 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 and then I punched several images out (snowflakes) of heavy cardstock. I glued them 3 high all over the chip board and then ran them through the Wizard with the white embossing plate, the tan rubber mat, the 'texture plate', the card stock I wanted to emboss, another tan rubber mat, then the blue charm plate. I LOVED the results. I also asked someone on the Spellbinder's Yahoo group about this and they said you can seal the texture plate with gel medium or the equivalent to make it last longer. Fun!!! Of course you can run just about anything through the Wizard to create texture...just experiment.
