Hey there all! Any suggestions on a sewing machine for cards? I had gotten a provocraft one at a sale and it did not work, which is why they were probably selling it! Haha!! SO, I went to my local Mike's and they said they don't carry anything anymore. So.......I need help!! Thanks SO much in advance!! Have an AWESOME day!!
Hi friends, I am wondering...is there any reason why one couldn't use their regular sewing machine on cards? I have an expensive emboridery machine, and at first I thought that I shouldn't be using that on paper. Now I am thinking, why not? As long as I change the needle what could be the problem? My machine sews on pretty much anything else, even leather. What I would need to know though is what stitch length and what setting to use. I may still buy the Janome sew mini, but is there any reason why folks feel the need for a specific paper sewing machine?
You really don't need a special machine, however, if you are a quilter or seamstress and have a high end machine, the paper dust and fibers can clog up the mechanics of your machine over time unless you are good about vaccuuming it out and keeping it well oiled.
Some people choose to only use their high-end machines, especially computerized models, for fabric. However, there are many lower end full size machines that work beautifully on both. Keeping it clean is the key.

Thank you ! I have a pretty good investment in my computerized machine, and I do keep it very clean, but the thought of paper dust and fiber getting into the mechanism leaves me a little shaky! I think it may be worth the small investment to have a dedicated crafting machine. Also, the others are smaller and portable. I think I have made my decision. Thanks for your input!!

I used to have Pfaff embroidery machine and I didn't use it for cards. For $49 bucks, it takes the stress away from doing any damage to your big dog. Good decision.

Love the "Big Dog" reference! You are right, and I am so glad we had this conversation!
