Default Which Scotch ATG glue gun is everyone purchasing?

I am thinking of purchasing the ATG glue gun and don't know which one to get? I see they have a yellow one and a red one? If I had to guess it would be the yellow one. Am I correct? Also where are you buying it? Who has the best price? TIA

Theresa

Theresa!! Check out this company...Armel. I found they had the best prices (even better than the framing supplies company everyone orders from) for the gun and tape. Great service although the website is a bit strange so I called and ordered that way. I love my gun - it takes the 1/4" tape only.

I just thought of another question. Will the ATG gun replace the red sticky tape that most of us use? Is the bond that strong? Hoping this is a double duty type purchase. Thanks!

You usually get a break on price when you buy quantity and of course, then it's probably less shipping costs in the long run. I bought 24 rolls (60 yds on a roll) and have gone through one roll in about a month...

As far as the strength of the tape. It's a very strong hold...once you press it down, it's down. Very unlike the tape runners when you never know when it'll pop up. It probably wouldn't hold beads though like the red sticky tape.

Default Scotch Tape Gun

Just last week I got mine. I choose the ATG 714 and LOVE it. I ordered 5 rolls of tape.

I found it on Blockheads Paper Arts.

http://www.blockheadstamp.com

They gave really quick service and the price was $58.50 with $6.49 shipping

Good luck

ME TOO! LOVE IT. And I also like the "normal" tape, not the acid free stuff for scrapbookers. The acid free stuff is perfect, but the non acid free is less expensive and there is more on the roll, and I'm not concerned about acid free tape on my cards.

Thanks for the info. But my only concern getting an off brand is that the tape rolls won't be as easy to find as the 3M.

That was one of my next questions. I'm not concerned about using the acid free tape on cards as well. Maybe I will just use my acid free tape (the one I own) for scrapbooking and use the ATG for cards and projects. Hopefully I can get one for my birthday

I have two fo the ATG 700s, one I use for 1/2" and the other I put an adapter for 1/4". That was before the ATG 714 came out. Can't live without 'em!

ATG 714 is the best. Got mine at www.framing supplies.com. The tape I use is the 908 Gold 1/4" refills because it is acid free. I use mine for card making and scrapbooking. The adhesive is permanent. No more pulling out cards that have fallen apart or opening your scrapbooks to find half of you embellies at the bottom. I even use mine around the house for anything that needs sticking, LOL.

I went with framingsupplies also about two years ago. I went with the 1/2 inch. You can rub off the excess. A lot of people alter theirs. I painted mine white an added rubons.

I have the red one and LOVE it, I used to go through so much adhesive that it was getting quite pricey, with the affordable rolls I can scrap all day long. Love it Love it Love it, and yeah framingsupplies.com is the same place I got mine. If you are an addicted ehhhm committed crafter as many of us are spring for the 12 roll pack and know that you will be good for most of the year. jmo, hth

I, too have been thinking about getting the 3m ATG 700 (holds 1/2 and 1/4 inch tape), but now I'm second guessing myself. Tombow Mono is 472 inches long, and the acid free 3m tape is 36 yards (only 108 inches). Is this right? Somewhere along the way I was lead to believe that the ATG had way more adhesive in it than the Mono. I'm hoping I am wrong or that my math is way off!

36 yards is 108 feet, which ends up being 1296 inches. Way more! Hope this helps.

I have the 714 and love it. I got the 60 yard rolls and love them, but would love to try one of the smaller rolls. Anyone wanna swap a 60 yard roll for a 36 yard roll? Would be a great way for each of us to try the other. I have 24 rolls of tape (a mistake on my part, didn't mean to order that many), so would be happy to exchange 1 for 1. I know I am losing tape in the deal, but I just want to try the other ones and see if it is different. Heck, if you want to trade for some of the acid free I will go 2 rolls of 60 yard for one of the acid free. PM me if you are interested, any of you.

I can't believe how dumb I am. I realized my mathematical error in the car just now and raced home to try to delete my post before anyone saw it. No such luck! Needless to say, I will be purchasing the ATG tomorrow from Armel. Thanks for your help, you are way too prompt!!

Oh, and those three goof balls to the left get all the blame for where my brains have gone!

To give someone a more practical idea--I had been using the Duck Brand double-sided tape, and was paying $12 for a pack of 4 (if I didn't have a coupon). I just last night put my 4th roll in my ATG (that I got for Christmas). When I use up the next roll (#5), I will have broken even and will be ahead on cost.

I bought a box of 12 rolls (908 Gold) when I got the ATG--and I think I'll need to re-order by summer, at this rate!

I LOVE my ATG!!!!!
