I've played with both a Scor-Pal and the Scor-It and prefer the Scor-Pal.... especially the new one with all of the possible score lines.
Honestly, if you can find a few to play with, that's what I would recommend. I found the Scor-It, when I borrowed it to do Christmas cards a few years ago, made me hold the tool at a strange angle and my wrist got sore.... with the Scor-Pal that has never happened.
I think you'll get different responses based on what people own... like between and Cuttlebug and a Big Shot... people like what they like LOL!
I have the Score-Pal and now that SU has the Simply Scored, I purchased it so that I can demonstrate it at my stamp camps and let my customers use it. I think hands-down it's the best!
I used to have either the Score Pal or the Scor-It but didn't like it because it wasn't exactly even. To score a card, I like the top and the bottom to be exactly the same. But it didn't do that because cards are supposed to have a SLIGHTLY larger inside than the outside front. I didn't like that so I got rid of it and got a Martha Stewart scoring board which I love - the price was right and it has grooves every 1/8 an inch.
I wish I could remember which company made the first one that I had.
I have the "old" Score-Pal and just went and bought the MS score board for $10 at AC Moore (didn't even need a coupon). I like the 1/8" lines. The tool isn't as sturdy as the Score-pal's, so just be careful. I like the envelope "thingy", too. I don't mind spending $10.
I personally love my Scor-Pal and wouldn't trade it for anything. ?Once you have 1 good scoring board there is no need for a second one unless it is the Scor-Buddy which is also awesome. I Love Scor-Pal!!!!

I love my ScorPal & ScorBuddy. I had the original ScorPal and 'Passed it Forward' to someone in my church group. Made a comment here on SCS about this and how I just like the ScorPal so much better than the MS one I bought to try. Diana contacted me through this site and gave me a discount since I said my new ScorPal was on order. MS nor Stampin' Up do this!
I have talked personally to Diana and her husband, Roy. Diana, when I called after seeing the original ScorPal in a magazine and Roy, when there was that problem with the scoring tool. Both of them were so accommodating. Diana walked me through how to use the ScorPal with me looking on my computer screen. She had just come back from CHA and checked her order book to see if there was a customer near me so I could 'see it in person'. Called when the scoring tool problem came up and left a message. Roy called me at around 8:00 pm and got my replacement in the mail quickly. I have told this story here and to my crafting friends many times but I am sooo very impressed with there customer service that I want everyone to know there are companies that stand by their products!!!
Ladies....this is sooo helpful!! I am really happy to see everyone has a favorite!! I will be shopping around for sure!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!;)
I have the Score Pal, and always use it to score my cardstock for making cards. I have the 4-1/4" line marked with a Sharpie. I usually make multiples and it's quick and easy to score the middles.
I also got the Martha Stewart Board on sale for about $10. I really like it for making envelopes, and also use it to make the 1/4" scores to make the paper rosettes without using a die.
Here's a great tutorial for the rosettes, if you're interested:
