Default scoring tool

ok after reading a post on here, I have decided I need a scoring tool. Which one though, there is Martha Stewart, Scorpal, or SU. Please tell me which one you have and what you like about it?

Everyone has their favorites for sure. I have the Martha Stewart board and like it very much.

The pros for it vs. the others:

First, price. It sells at Michaels for a retail of only $19.99, but you can use a coupon and get it much cheaper.

Second, it comes with a handy envelope template to make your own envelopes.

Third, the score lines are in 1/8th increments. The Scorepal has strange score lines for frequently used measurements, but it is not consistent. If you want a measurement that's not on the board, you have to do the math and move your paper to the proper line to score where you want.

The only complaint I've heard about the Martha board is that the scoring tool that comes with it is not the greatest quality. But I have a nice bone folder that I use, so that didn't matter to me.

If you are an SU fan, I am sure their board is fine quality, but I think it's probably a lot more expensive than the Martha board.

I have both the ScorePal & the Martha Stewart one and use both - usually which ever one isn't buried under a pile of scraps. But honestly, I think I prefer the MS one just because the scores lines are 1/8" apart and I don't have to move my paper around or do any math to figure out where to score.

You sound like me, Cat. I also have both of them, but like the Martha board better for the same reason.

I got the ScorePal first, before Martha came out with hers, and sometimes use it if it's handy and if I just want to score the center of a card. Anything more complicated - I think "Martha knows best" with the 1/8" lines.

I have both the MS and ScorPal scoreboards. I use both for different projects. As others have said the score tool that comes with the MS scoreboard is not comfortable for me to hold so I use a Fiskar stylus tha to had. You have to test which end to use. If you use the finer one and press down too hard, you will cut right through the c/s.

The SU scoreboard is made by EK Success, the company that makes the MS scoreboard. Unless you really have to have a SU brand product, like the OP said use a coupon and buy the MS scoreboard. The usual color is a cream but I saw the scoreboard in the MS blue at a Michael's once.

When using the MS scoreboard, go slowly or your scoring tool might 'jump' out of the groove.

I have the MS for big jobs and the Scor-buddy to keep close by. As someone mentioned, the MS "bone folder" is sad......but the score board is great!

I have both of the Martha Stewart scoreboards and like the mini one even better than the full size.

If you have the Martha board, you can use the SU! inserts - diagonal and new boarders plates.

Another board to consider is the 'Hougie'. it has score lines on both sides, one side metric, one side imperial.

I'm another one who has both sizes in the Martha Stewart scoreboards. I love the scoring blade that came with the mini so much better than the one with the larger board (that one causes blisters to form in the web space between my thumb and forefinger). I got a Martha Stewart bone folder separately as it is more comfortably shaped that the old straight one I had.

One tip that was mentioned on this site is to make lines in every other channel with an ultra fine line permanent marker. This really helps in making sure that you will score in the correct channel, because just looking at it doesn't guarantee that what you start in will be the same as what the end is.

I color code my micro fine pen marks ie red for the 4 1/4" for your A2 card; purple for the 2 lines needed for a tri-fold card, etc.

I have marked all my scoreboards.
