I have a ScorePal and have seen the ScoreIt, but didn't like it as well.
Here's what I think the advantages for the ScorePal are:
1) Lightweight - the ScoreIt is pretty heavy.
2) You don't have to figure out where to place the paper before you score (unless you are doing a measurement that isn't on the board), you just plop it in the upper left corner, find your mark and score.
3) You don't have to move your paper every time you score a line because there are multiple lines.
If you need a score line that isn't on the board, like a line at 5 1/4", you just move the cardstock over so that the edge is on the 1/4" mark, then you score at 5 1/2". Most of the time, though, all the score lines you would usually use are already there.
I have the Scor-It Mini. I love it for just making a quick, crisp crease on a card. It's small so it's easy to haul out to use.
I have a scoring blade on my large cutter if I need to score something bigger.

I have a mental block or something when it comes to this. I really like my Score-Pal, but I really wish they would have put more score lines on it. Very frequently I need to score at a measurement that is not available. Then I get all confused trying to figure out how to move my paper. I know I'm probably just not thinking about right or something, but it is very frustrating to me.
Is there an easy cheat sheet or something somewhere that would help with something like that???
Traci, I think if you went on the Scor-Pal site, you might find your answer....or if you don't, PM Diana. She is so great at answering questions and gets back to a person really fast.
I am thinking the future scor-pals might have more measurements on it...it is the only tiny drawback I can see with this wonderful tool....but so far, I have managed to move my paper over and that seems to have worked just fine. You could always get your ruler out and mark with a black sharpie pen.
I tried the Score-It at Archivers, and when the clerk couldn't even get a good crease with it, I decided it wasn't for me. I tried the Scor-Pal at Archiver's when they started carrying it, and I fell in love. I love that I can just plop my paper down and go to town scoring without moving the paper every time. I've started working on complicated folds just because I can do it so much easier now. I am by no means a math genius, but I've figured out how to adjust the paper if I want an odd measure (which is pretty rare).
I have never tried the Scor-It, but I do own a Scor-pal and wish I had ordered one sooner! They make it wicked easy to make candy boxes and other three dimensional creations out of paper.
I have the Top Score from Crafters Companion along with the Enveloper. So far I am very satisfied with them. The Enveloper is great because I don't even need to remember or find measurements- I just look up which lines to score for which size envelope and viola! I am trying hard to resist the temptation to also get a scor-pal, since it gets so many great reviews here- but I hope I can continue to resist at least until I find something that the Top Score won't do that the scor-pal would. More $$ for stamps that way, lol!
It's really a matter of preference... I have the Scor-it mini and i love it! It scors the thickest paper well and it's so handy cos it doesn't take up much space. I can keep it in my drawer and take it out whenever I need it. I use it every time i make a card. And with the stop guide, i can scor a whole lot of cards at one time very quickly and effortlessly. The mini also costs less than the scorpal.
There's a pretty detailed comparison of the two on this blog. She has them both and love them both! The details she provide will hopefully help you decide.. Blogs at Splitcoaststampers.
I have both and the ScorPal is the way to go. My ScorIt cuts through the card stock at the top of the card. I emailed the company and they sent me a new wooden scor thing but it's the blade on the ScorIt that sticks out. I've put mine back in the box to send back. the ScoPal on the other hand creases by pushing into a crevice if you will. Very nice sharp crease and you can make several lines at once for dimension on your card. I use the cuttlebug embossing folders on the top or bottom of some of my cards and the Scorpal does a great job of letting you ad several creases between.
I just bought the ScorPal after reading all the reviews on here and now I know why it has such great reviews.
It's awesome. Light, easy to use and you'll never cut your paper from over-scoring!

I can hardly wait to play with it...had to whisk it downstairs and out of sight of hubby...but then again that is why I work 2 jobs...the second is for my habit which is greatly enabled on this site! LOL:-D
I bought my (mini) Scor It at Archivers with a coupon. Dh & I studied them both before deciding which one to take home. Honestly, the Scor It board felt better built, more sturdy. It is heavier - no doubt that's why it felt better to me. I was also intrigued by the idea that you can measure & score anywhere, I hate to be confined to measurements that aren't mine. Plus the price difference was around $10 - I just couldn't justify the extra $$ for features that I didn't like, especially when it was too big for me to store easily.
The only down side (so far) is that I can't seem to get a sharp starting/ending score in the middle of the paper (like if I wanted to make a scored box in the middle of the card) with the tool provided. The wooden tool is too blunt - and there's no way to see exactly where to lay it down or pick it up. IMO this could've been done much better, I can only guess that this is easier to do on the Scor Pal because of the design & tool used with that system.
Anyway, I wouldn't trade my mini for the other one. The mini is perfect for most things I do and pretty good at the rest. Guess it just depends on what you'll use it for the most!
I just got a Scor-pal a few weeks ago and love it! If there isn't a measurement for what I'm doing, I make small pencils marks on my paper with a ruler before I place it on my Scor-Pal, then line up those marks with a groove on the Scor-Pal. Easy!
SCOR-PAL baby!! I haven't ever tried the Scor-It.. but it was NOT recommended to me by someone who has it.. so I went with the Scor-Pal.. I have a TopScore (POJunk!) that one was a total waste of money.

I actually have both and I like them both. I like the nice, clean score that the scorepal gives, but I dislike that I have to use their measurements. I was working on a project the other day and the scorepal did not have the measurement that I needed on the board. I pulled out my score-it and used that instead. I use both equally.
Have the Scor-Pal - love, love it.
Have tried (really tried ) the Scor-It. It was fine, but not as fine as my Scor-Pal!
And, Dianne is so readily availble for help. Ordering is a pleasure. Now they have the carrying bag (?) and it is neat.....

Hi... I ordered from R&R Scrapbooking as I could pick up from them but I would have ordered directly from Scor Pal as their shipping is well priced.
Here in Canada, they aren't too many LSS carrying them.
Mostly have to order online. HTH!
