I guess I will have to get a pair of crafting scissors so I will be able to cut my new stamp sets. I can't believe the SU ones are soooo expensive. Does anyone use a different brand that works as well thats a little less expensive?
Just take the hit and get them you will be glad you did in the long run!
I waited a long time wish I had got them sooner.
I agree completely. I waited for 2+ years & am now kicking myself for not buying them sooner. They are SO much easier to cut with & I can cut my stamps so much closer too!
I balked at the price of the SU scissors for 7 years! During that time, I bought several pairs of scissors for $10 or less. Then I finally got the SU ones. OMGoodness what a difference! The SU ones are TOTALLY worth it! They cut the rubbah like buttah! You will not be disappointed!

Agree, agree, agree! Worht every cent!
Your hand will thank you for getting the SU! scissors! I bought a different brand (the ones with the bee??) and my hand hurt so bad from cutting my stamps, used them for about 3 SU! orders of stamp sets and finally bought the SU! craft and rubber scissors and was totally shocked at the difference. I can cut 5 or 6 stamp sets in a row and my hand doesn't hurt at all!
Viva Las Vegas Stamps also sells the brand of scissors their manufacturing company uses to trim down the cushioned dies they produce. They sell the scissors NIP as well as the used ones which they say are sharpened to 7x the sharpness of the new scissors. Just thought I'd mention that if you are looking for a few options to choose from.
I've also seen them on the frantic stamper website. Pretty sure it's www.franticstamper.com. I don't know if they were cheaper or not, though. The brand name is KAI scissors -- they have a website, too.

I have the KAI ones and they are terrific. They were used to cut Bonzai trees so they work perfectly for stamp cutting. I'm not sure if the cost for the KAI ones are the same or if they are cheaper. I love them.
I had purchased some that look like the KAI and SU ones from the Dollar Tree and they work, just not as nicely.
I love these scissors from SU and waited several years before I bought them. They make it so much easier to mount stamps AND to get into the tight little spaces because you don't have to fight with them cutting
If you want good scissors, you're gonna have to shell out a few $$ for quality. My hairdresser didn't even blink when I told her the C&R scissors in the catty cost $20 a pair, because she's got hair shears that cost ten times that!
I balked at the price initially, but finally gave in after getting to try my (then) demo's pair. Oh how did I make it so long without them! I can assemble half a dozen sets in an evening and feel no discomfort in my hands, while before I'd be cramping up after only two sets. I can trim my stamps much more closely, too!

I went through 3 other pairs until I was trimming for a friend and she included her SU scissors. I could have kicked myself, they were sooo worth it, I own 2 pairs, the second I got when I signed up. No home should be without them.
I totally agree! The SU scissors are worth it. Although, I got mine when I had my first party and used my hostess dollars to pay for them, so I didn't really have to pay for them out of my own pocket. I keep mine clean by using the alcohol swabs and just wiping the sticky gunk off of them. That's all it takes!
I have the SU sissors, but only because I didn't buy them for myself. I do love them, but before I go them, I used a pair of utility sissors that I actually got for free for getting a credit card or something. I found that utility sissors as opposed to paper or fabric sissors worked very well, they were very tough and didn't balk at cutting through rubber--kitchen sissors might do it, too. I love the SU ones because the size is perfect, but I still have my others and they still work!
I have the Kai ones and I'm kicking myself for not getting either them or the SU ones sooner. I found the Kai ones for $11.95, so look around and you should be able to find a deal, just make sure they are the actual Kai brand or SU ones. You can get the cheap knock off Allery (or somehting like that) on eBay for SUPER cheap, but they stink!
I also agree! Get the SU scissors--they are very much worth it! What also helps, I get sticky residue on them from the adhesive on the rubber, I clean them with Goo Gone. That helps also. --Jeannie
I don't have the SU scissors. I do have cutter bee scissors which I bought for detail work. I've seen them at Wal-Mart for under $10. When I bought them, I thought I'd only use them for detail work. Boy was I wrong! I've had to resharpen them at home a couple of times I've used them so much. I love those things! Plus, I bought the non-stick kind (which I've heard that the SU ones are not non-stick), so it's really easy to get any adhesive off of the blades without hurting yourself. If you do buy the cutter bee ones, be careful as they are really sharp!
I agree that the SU scissors are very good and sharp. But if you don't want to spen too much kitchen scissor will to nicely. Just be careful but they cut through rubber well
The SU scissors are the best. Think about the fact that cheap scissors, knives, cutters of any type require you to use more pressure (this can cause injury) and are not easily to control. You will not be disappointed in paying for great scissors. They save time and effort.
Sorry, this is kind of long....
Earlier this year I was looking for an equivalent pair of scissors for my friend - she had misplaced hers and didn't want to buy another pair; she might end up finding it etc, so I went to Walmart for the non-stick Honeybees - cheap enough and everyone on here was saying how great they were..... well, perhaps it is I who doesn't know how to cut rubber but they did not cut the rubber at all like the SU ones did - not comparable in any way, shape or form like the SU pair. The non-stick aspect of the Honeybee didn't help like you might think it would either. I thought too there has to be another type out there that would work, bought the similar looking & pricey Fiskar pair with a 40% off coupon at Michaels - nope, not even close to SU's. I was pretty shocked. I did not try my kitchen or utility scissors so I can't speak for them - although if I lost my SU's those would be the ones I'd try first, til I got another SU/Kai pair anyway, and I did keep the Honeybees for cutting paper but I was kind of mystified about them being talked on here as something for cutting rubber.
I love my cheap ol' kitchen utility scissors designated for cutting rubber. Works great, even cutting up close to the image. Then I throw them in the dishpan and the sticky gunk washes right off. Been using the same pair for over two years, probably cut about 100 stamp sets with the same pair. If I were cutting rubber every day, I might want to upgrade, but for my purposes, these work great. For paper cutting, gotta have my CutterBee!
My scissors are The Original Garden Cut pruning shears. Also sold four bonsai use. They have larger, soft-flex handles, and are SHARP. I bought them at a garden center. Still using them after 6 years! They cost 13.00...probably more than that now.
You do get what you pay for, and if you are passionate and thrilled by your stampendous activities then make the investment. You won't regret it! I have to say that the only thing I used prior to SU scissors was a box cutter blade and that is just too dangerous to be doing on a regular basis. Precision, yes! But not convenient and safe!
