I am looking for a tool that will make scalloped edges on cards. I know that I can use my corner rounder from SU to acheive this, but I was hoping that someone knows of a tool that will do several at once. It's got to be out there! I just need help finding it!
Thanks! I always know I can count on the Splitcoasters to know what's out there.
You mean, besides scissors? Provo Craft makes a variety of scallop scissors from tiny to somewhat standard, and "wide & shallow". You can find those at Michael's. They're not "superior" cutting instruments, but, most of the time, they do alright.
Fiskars also makes a standard and a mini scallop scissor, also available at Michael's.
Making Memories used to make fantastic Mega Scallop scissors and then retired them. I held onto mine. And, the Mega Pinking. No idea why they retired 'em; they'd be selling like hotcakes today, no doubt.
I also held onto the retired SU! scallop and pinking scissors, which are deeper than the rest currently on the market. Great scissors. I believe those may have been outsourced to Fiskars; Fiskars may not be able to re-produce those same scissors unless they buy the rights to 'em back from SU!, and SU! may be unwilling to sell . . . ??? Just speculating; I have no first-hand knowledge of any of this.
It's been years since these were retired, but you may be able to find these items on Ebay
My current Fiskars and Provo Craft scallop scissors are OK, but not as large or deep as I would prefer . . . :(
Martha Stewart released a rotary scallop blade for her rotary hand-held cutter, which works pretty spiffy in conjunction with a ruling guide--I got to try it at CHA, and I was pretty keen on it. But, I don't know that it has made it into stores yet. I'm definitely snagging one when they become available!
As for a die that will cut a scalloped edge to accommodate an A-2 card or longer? I haven't seen one yet.
At this point, I usually cut my card to size, to fit the largest Nestabilities scallop square. Not the easiest or most convenient . . .
I find it puzzling that for all their development of other types of dies, no company (at least, none that I am aware presently) has focused on creating one that will do borders on a complete card (not a die cut strip that has to be attached) . . .
Good luck on your quest and HTH!

Fiskars already make a scallop blade for their rotary cutter and when I just typed the search 'scallop blade' into eBay, I see several other makes too: here's the search for you.
There are punches out there too, the new Fiskars Threading water one does scallops with a little dot punched out of the centre of each one, IYSWIM.

Thanks! I must admit, tho, I hate shopping on eBay.

Julie,
My Michael's revamped their MS section recently and replenished their supply of the scallop blade for the rotary cutter. Maybe yours has, too... :-)

I've always looked, and they've never had the dang thing--not once ever! And, I've been looking ever since Michael's first stocked the MS line . . .
Alas, Michael's is an hour+ from me. I don't get off the island all that much to go there, but, next chance I get, I will look (again). Thank you!

I just wanted to add, for those who do not have a Michael's located nearby, that I have ordered Martha's punches directly from her website with quick shipping. I got several when the latest border punches came out. Looks like even she doesn't have some of the newest ones in stock right now, though.
I have been using the new Nestabilities Mega Scallop Rectangles to cut scallops on the edges of my cards. I use the cuttlebug and line up the edge of the paper with the die and run it through until it cuts the edge. Then, I 'rewind' the die and take it out so it doesn't cut the entire shape. Does that make sense? I LOVE using the new longer dies for this technique! It's way faster than scissors or paper punches.
I've heard that SU will be selling a scallop border punch in the new Fall Winter '08 Catalog that will be released in August.
Ooh, I posted earlier and I just thought of 2 other things to tell you...
First, I heard a rumor that SU will have a scalloped punch in the next catty. We will have to wait and see, on that one.
The other thing is, if you punch out a scalloped circle (if you have that punch) you can just cut one scallop (in between the curves) and then straighten it out, and use that. I saw this posted here, by someone but I don't remember who.

is the bomb!! It's a cutter with a straight blade and a scalloped blade, plus you can buy other edges. Also included is a little hand-held trimmer that the blades pop into. Pricey but worth every penny to me.
I just got the Martha Stewart hand held one today and got the scallop edge to go with it. It is fabulous! Cut right through SU cardstock with no trouble! Thanks Julie for recommending it! (Plus, Michael's has a 50% off MS coupon this week!)

I'm sure other places will have them - I find eBay is just handy for seeing lots of different stuff all in one place, even if you don't want to buy there!
While at Archeiver's this past weekend-they were showing the new Quickkutz LONG cutting strips-which had long two sizes of scallop edges(12 inches I think) However- I think you would need their platform-which can work with Big Kick. Will need some sandwich info for that. Also other really cool long designs!

Reason: wasn't finshed!oops!
Sizzix makes and extended cut that I use as a large scallop.
It is the round journal extended cut.
You can even make a type of ribbon out of it becuase
there is enough space where the circles connect to place a
strip of paper. I even use a hand punch to put
holes in the scallops. It makes a lovely decorative piece on
a card or scrapbook page. Have never used it for a journal.
hmmmm, good idea, LOL
I heard a rumor (or read on someone's blog) that SU was coming out with a scallop border punch in the next catalog. I think that was one of the many sneak peaks the cruisers got.
Thanks for all the info. I have the slit punch and will give it a try for scallops. I have used the corner rounder at stamp camps but don't own one. Would be nice if SU does have a scallop punch coming out in the new catty.
Cutterpede also has an interchangeable scallop cutting blade for their 12 inch paper cutter. They have several blades other than straight edge. I got my at Hobby Lobby.
I just attended a demo at my LRSS on Friday night and it was for the new Sizzix Bigz XL card kit dies. One of the dies is for a scalloped A6 card (slightly larger than an A2 card). It cuts out a card with scallops on three sides and it cuts the scallops on both the back and front of the card.
Here's a picture that I found of the packaging. My LRSS is taking preorders for these and expects them in around the end of the month.

Wow, this is terrific! One question, though: can these dies go through the Cuttlebug? If so, sign me up!

That's exciting news! I'm guessing the BIGZ XL dies should still fit the Big Shot . . . But, why in the world would they do this die in an A-6 card size, as opposed to the standard A-2???
