Default SB splatter white WC and Crafters Illusion film

I am curious about 2 new to me products and if anyone has played with them?

Spellbinders splatter white opaque WC- seems to be designed specifically for splatter with a claim of bleed proof and being really bright white. I don't see YT on this but do we really need one? And do we need this? Isn't the white acrylic paint we have now good enough?

Crafter's companion illusion film which we could use alone but they really want us to heat two pieces together back to back for a more sturdy piece-even for backing. They also suggest we mix and match colors to create a new one. I would describe it as an iridescent thin plastic film.

Start at 20:44.

This appeals to me for butterfly wings but I am not interested in ironing...I don't have a craft iron and am not interested in getting one. My laminator only has one setting-not low- so I think it would maybe fry in that. But maybe we could still back with it by gluing something to a single sheet and cutting around the outside?

Margot...the differences between white acrylic paint and white watercolors are subtle. I'll try to clarify a little. There may be no differences depending on what you use it for, or the differences may be critical.
White acrylic paint is based on an acrylic polymer--a kind of plastic. It has a level of glossiness to it when it dries, and is impervious to water when dry. It cannot be re-worked when dry either. Acrylic paint is suitable on many different types of surfaces.
White watercolor (also called gouache) can be translucent to opaque, depending on the pigment used. It is a gum arabic base and dries with a flat appearance. The big difference is that they can be re-activated with water. It can also be diluted with water to become somewhat more transparent. Painting surface limited to paper.
There's other differences, but these are the main ones.

The film looks like Fantasy Film from a while back. There is not much new under the sun.

Thanks Fiona. I get that...it seems though that SB is touting this one as "special" and I guess thicker and specifically for splattering? I am thinking it is just marketing....

Yes Pam-I thought the same thing-it does seem like Fantasy film with a different name.....

And I agree. There is very little new under the sun. Why I like to come to my peeps and ask about these things.

Thanks to you both.
