I have too much ribbon its not even funny. I've tried storing them in their spools, I took them out of their spools put them in floss containers, in a bag, I've ran out of solutions. I get new rolls everytime. I was thinking to take them out of their spools and put a curtain rod on a window and hang the strands of ribbon to the curtain rod. I think I can eventually make a curtain with strands. But do you think the ribbon will begin to fade from the sunlight? I have blinds though. How do you store your ribbons? Lotsa ribbons?
I use cropper hopper 3x3 storage drawers and their ribbon cards. Works great for short lengths, not really for whole spools. I have the SU ribbon keeper for full spools...not my fave, but does the job (hard to take the spools in/out, hard to keep the ribbons separate sometimes). There are lots of threads on here about this topic already, do a search and check it out. Also try browsing through the craft rooms in the gallery for ideas! HTH!

This is the way I store my ribbons. Sorry right now it's a bit messy, it looks like a tornado hit, and there's tons of ribbon missing. I have the rest of the ribbon on top of my work table.
I made a great ribbon holder out of a section of Gutter that I got at Lowes. I punched through the side with my Crop-a-Dile and put in eyelets. My hubby then hung it on the wall in my craft area. It works great!

I use ribbon rings. I have one ring for each color. I hung a coat hood rack (from Target) in my scrapbook area. My daughter likes to take the rings down and run around the house with them... they haven't tangled yet!! I got them online on their website..ribbonring.com
To answer your sunlight question, I have had ribbon fade from sunlight, so now I make sure my rings are out of direct sun.

Happy holidays!
I'm curious as to how this works when you have spools of 25 yards and up? I know it'll work well with the smaller ones, but would it be a hassle to store those bigger spools? TIA
The ribbon ring tags come with a little sticker that you put on the corner of the tag if you have more of it. I cut my ribbon into 2 yard lengths and store the rest of the spool in a plastic tub under my bed. When I get low on a particular ribbon, I can tell that I have more! The system works great for me.

OMG! This sounds like a keeper! I'm going to try this system out to see how much I like it!!
One day in the grocery store I noticed the narrow little boxes from Bob's Red Mill. Their sole purpose is to keep the little bags of oatmeal or flour from tipping over.
So I asked for a couple of the boxes, took them home and sure enough they fit most kinds of ribbon spools.
Then I found a couple of shallow boxes that hold just 2 or 3 of the skinny ones from Bob's. Now I have FOUR of the larger boxes filled with ribbon spools. It keeps them tidy instead of jumbled. Since they stack up on a high up shelf, I should sort by colors and label each box.... Another New Year's resolution??
Here is a pic of the brand name on one of the skinny boxes. And 3 skinny boxes of ribbon inside the shallow box.
i asked my hubby to quick make me a ribbon holder... hours went by before he came in with these. what a work of art. needless to say i love them. now that i've had them a while there are actually things hanging from the branches.. like rub ons and buttons and do-dads.
i used a Pax storage system from Ikea. You can see a pic on my blog, www.mftstamps.blogspot.com, it is the second post down. I thought i had a lot of ribbon until I organized it all!
I can answer this one! 100 yds from Ribbons and Bows Oh My comes on a spool about the size of a salad plate. I love having this vast amount because I don't mind using it - I know I have plenty!

that link is to the post on my blog where I show my ribbon storage. Its really cheap and I still love it all these months later. I also link on there where I got the idea from, because I sure didn't think of it myself.
