Okay, for those of you who get the heebie-jeebies by my request, my apologies. You probably don't want to read further - lol!
I have Stampin Up basic colors in large pads (from the 2003-ish time period), and a complete set of mini pads, both craft and dye inks. I want to get re-inkers, but am wondering if anyone knows of an all-inclusive index of accurate SU colors from at least the 2000s? I'm not a finicky stamper - as long as paper, trims, and images look pretty good together I'm happy - so I'd like to compare colors and re-ink with whatever comes closest.
Call me crazy, if you want, I'm okay with that, but I really don't want to invest in a bunch of new, expensive ink pads when the ones I have have been so carefully stored and cared for that re-inking would do it. Thanks for reading, and for your suggestions!
There's one with complete list of SU colors from before 2000 to the present, listed by dates.
There's one with colors listed by rainbow order.
There's one with colors listed in Hue order.
There's a few others,too.
Over time I have made comments in those threads and in others concerning new colors that are similar or really close to older colors so that you can purchase newer re-inkers for older colors. I did that with the new in colors that come out in May. Some are nearly the same as some older colors that are retired.
Wow, that’s all fantastic. Thank you for seeing my inquiry and responding. Your work has no doubt saved a LOT of crafters from losing their minds trying to figure it all out. (((Hugs to you!)))
Call me crazy then, too, because I do exactly the same - reinking my older pads with a current color that's very close. The linen pads are my favorite and I just don't want to part with them.
I actually inherited some duplicates of the old pads, so re-inking with newer colors makes perfect sense. I find myself hoping my old pads run out of ink so I can use a different (but close) color.

I will be trying this soon. I have a foam peekaboo peach pad, and since the foam pads seem to dry out pretty fast, I am going to try the the reinker for the new in color pale papaya.

Slightly off topic, but I have a Peach Parfait ink pad that I keep hoping dries out because I really don't care for the color. The peach tones by SU have not been appealing to me, and I'm not sure why. The Peach Parfait is almost a rusty tan and not peachy at all.

Ha, well I immediately went to get my linen peach parfait pad to stamp it. The color would work for the Hey Birthday Chick and Hey Chick stamps. I can hardly see any difference between the peach parfait and peekaboo peach when I just stamped with both of these colors now. I have hardly used these colors, but now I will thanks to you posting.
I am not really a fan of peach either. Guess I bought these when I thought I had to have all the incolors ink pads.

Glad I got you to pull them out and play a bit. I got my Peach Parfait pad used, from a friend, but have only used it once. I also got hooked on the "gotta have all the colors" phase, but now I only fill in where I have colors that I'm missing. Now I need to pull out that darn Peach Parfait and see if I can do anything with it! It won't dry out if I never use it, right?!

I have a complete color inventory of all of the Stampin’ Up! colors if you click on the link under my name it should take you to the forum where I just posted the latest update
Do you just add the new updated color to an old pad? Or do you need to rinse out the old color first? I saw a video recently where the demo suggested rinsing out the old color before reinking with a new but similar color.
Please, I need all the advice I can get.
I haven't touched my inks and stamps for over 10 years.

It's exciting to get back to stamping, isn't it?
I'm just going to reink with newer colors, but as I said in my OP I'm not a finicky stamper. I'm close to ready to do this - almost have a dedicated space, so I may stand a chance of actually stamping semi-regularly, and my ink pads are *thirsty*. My advice is this - take your least favorite of your regularly used colors and try it without cleaning the pad first. If the colors are truly close enough to reink then I wouldn't think it'd be necessary to go through the fuss and bother of cleaning the pad first.. Have fun!
