The one question I have is can you switch adhesive mid roll? I bought the archival stuff, but I wouldn't use that on my cards, so can I switch to the non without using the whole roll up?
It is totally worth it and framing supply IS trhe cheapest place to get it. I researched a lot. You will never go back to mono and will use way less double sided scotch tape.

Can you switch tapes in the middle? I bought regular tape and now I'll be doing scrap booking. Do I really need the acid free and can i switch rolls before the end?
It's really no problem to switch out your rolls of tape before finishing one. Make sure that you cut the used portion long enough to refeed when you want to put it back on. I changed out a roll before a shoebox swap so I would be sure and have enough tape for the whole day and had no problems.
Thanks to another thread here, I found a place that is a little cheaper than framing supplies. It is the armel company. You send them an e-mail and they get back to you with prices.
Hope this helps. I have not ordered mine yet.

I finally got my atg gun.:-D I was waiting b/c the archival tape was backordered. I think I'm going to like it a lot. The only thing I noticed was that sometimes the adhesive keeps going when I don't want it too! I think I just need to play a little more with it. I got mine at the framing supplies place and one of my rolls of tape came damaged, and the e-mailed me right back saying they would credit me. So good service too!
It does take a bit to get used to in regards to when to let up on the lever. Also, I found it works better too that when you release the lever to continue going parallet with the work surface rather than lift up on it.
good point. I am currently makeing mostly cards invitations etc, I always use scrapbook quality products, so I guess I'll just determine per project.
thank :-)

Hi Ladies, I too purchase from ARMEL Company. The prices are alot better than the Framing Co. Lynn @ ARMEL called me at home yesterday to say it had shipped and I should have it in two days. BTW, she is also a scrapper and crafter. The phone # is 800-637=3720. I can't wait to try it out. 36 yds of tape is $1.79.
I used armel too, great! I highly recommend them! Superfast shipping etc. I bought the gold tape because I scrapbook and do not want to worry about switching tape. Have fun with it Cherie!

Wow this thing looks interesting. The problem I have with mono is that it doesnt dispense evenly (sometimes half the width or none at all will come out, which is VERY WASTEFUL!). So I have to go over and over the same place twice (and it doesnt always help). Does the ATG dispense evenly? If so, Im sold.

I think it dispenses evenly. I have had a couple of instances where the adhesive didn't even apply - just went back up with the tape paper but I didn't waste very much of it. It's nominal waste when I compare how much I've used this successfully. ;)

Framing Supplies has the 1/4" x 60' back in stock,, go look
 I was delighted with Lynn's service regarding my recent order of the 924 tape (36yd)
However, I just found that framingsupplies has the 1/4" x 60' back in stock.
It's only $2.43 --- $2.35 for 12 to 71 rolls. You may want to check this out too.

p.s. Thanks Kimberly in MN for prompting me to check with framingsupplies again. I sure do wish they'd told me the 987 was out of stock, instead of saying it wasn't available any more. Pftttttttttttt. http://www.framingsupplies.com/3M/3MATGTape2.htm

I got my ATG yesterday! I finally figured out how to properly load the thing with my DDIL's help. It works good after a little practice. The wrapping on mine was strange too. LOL. I think in the long run it is going to save a lot of money over the Tombow. I'm gonna try it for a month and see if I find any of my cards have fallen apart with this adhesive. That and the price was my biggest gripe with the Tombow. Another strike against Tomboy - Last year around October, you could not get a refill ANYWHERE. I guess everyone makes their own cards now...hehehheee. I bought the ATG 714 from Framing Supplies. The gun was $33. and change and the refills were $2.35 ea. And they charged me $6 for shipping and .50 for insurance. So far, I think its worth it.
My brother got me an ATG gun for my birthday. The first comment he made was, "you wouldn't believe how they packaged it. It was the weirdest thing!" I was kind of bummed he unwrapped it and put it in a gift bag. I would have enjoyed seeing it packaged. Oh well, happy with my ATG!
You will LOVE this tool! I can honestly say that nothing I've made with it has fallen apart, it's awesome! I now have 2 of them so I can have 2 sizes of tape. The thing I really love is that any excess tape can just be rubbed away without mess or stickiness. My only complaint is that it's SO big. I get lots of comments about it when I go to a stamping event.
I watched all these threads and bought the ATG 714. I'm getting the hang of the rhythm to avoid adhesive on the ends. It's fab how it stays stuck. I'm so sick of cards with "wardrobe failures."
If I use it quite a bit, I have noticed that the tape begins to slip off the front roller? Has anyone else experienced this? I believe I have the it installed correctly. Any thoughts?
I am thrilled with my ATG gun from framingsupplies.com! I bought the acid free tape just in case I ever get around to scrapbooking (!) and have not regretted the purchase. It is cheaper in the long run, more convenient for me, and easy to use.
My tape does slip a little to the side, but it has never affected performance.
I love how nicely the tape fits on the back of 1/4" ribbon to tape it down, and how you can just rub excess or misplaced pieces of tape and they just come right off, but once you finish your card it really stays together. I live in the hottest part of NC and the humidity has not affected my cards.
I agree that it's a terrific tool and I don't regret having purchased it. . . love how it speeds the process up and doesn't run out. Especially like how my cards stay together. It's just bothering me that the tape slides on the roller. I'll call Framing Supplies tomorrow (I bought it there, too) and see if they have any suggestions.
Thanks.
Me too, mine has slipped off a few times. but nothing major. I have gone through 5 roles of the 1/4" and LOVE every swipe of the gun. It is a bit bulky, but a trade-off I am willing to make :-)

I just ordered my second lot of 12 refills for the 714. I really love this tool. I make a lot of cards for the ladies ministry at church as well as my soldier project and it has saved me a lot of $$$ over mopy mono which gets tired of holding and lets go...lol Anyway, small learning curve to the ATG but so glad I did it!
I called Framing Supplies regarding the adhesive slipping off the front roller (not every time but enough to be annoying). They forwarded me to 3M. I left a message at 3M and haven't heard back. I hope I have a report soon.
I just did it! My dh asked me what I wanted for my bday. So I ordered the 714 and 12 roll regular tape and 12 rolls gold. I used the framingsupplies.com place. The Armel Co was cheaper for the gun but the tape was higher so in the long run it seemed like framingsupplies.com was the better deal. Thanks to KimberleyinMN for helping me understand everything about this gun. Can't wait to see the wrapping job!

Cool!! I know I haven't had ANY buyer's remorse with mine. (Same for with the Cuttlebug and the used Cricut I bought from someone.) I just remembered the funny face the Fed Ex guy had when he was bringing the package to my door. Ha! Actually, I'm kind of amazed that they would allow someone to mail a package like that. I'm sure it doesn't stack nicely in their truck!!
Congratulations!! Isn't it great how a birthday comes in handy for getting something that we want?!

Mine is coming today. I checked it's tracking. I can't wait.
I got the red gun and 3 rolls of tape for it.I think my LSS sells the tape and if they do I'd like to buy it from them. If not I'll order a case next time from the framing place.

It came yesterday. I love it. I love it more than any other adhesive. It's wicked sticky but super easy to use. It wasn't too bad to load, I was really taking my time, but I got it. It's wonderful and I love it.
Everyone get one.

Ok you have all emabled me. I just ordered from a company in canada. I've got the 714 coming along with 12 rolls of 924. I just ordered today and it will be i my hot little hands by tomorrow. Talk about fast. The company is www.nhsmedia.com. Excellent service.
I have a question about the weight. Sometimes fingers don't cooperate. Does it take a lot of strength to hold the dispenser straight. I don't want to aggrevate anything and have to quit stamping for a while. I am old, but will start working with even older seniors. Would the mono dispenser be more practical for them?
I'm thinking I'll only need to use the 1/4" size tape, which would mean the 714 model. Is there any reason to go with the 700 model?
Also, is the 714 model smaller than the 700 model?
I've waiting long enough...it's really time for me to get one!
Jessica
The 700 model is the same size as 714 - it just uses the wide tape. You can get an adapter for it to use the 1/4" tape. The 700 might even be a little thicker where the tape is installed, but not by much.

Mine wasn't in a box. It was all wrapped up in miles of bubble wrap! I'm serious... it was scary looking. Maybe one of the gals who recently ordered will be able to weigh their package before they rip it open. I know it's shipped via FedEx so maybe that's why it costs a bit more to get to you since it has to go by plane??
