I recently unearthed my Ranger Melting Pot, which must be 15-20 years old. I was considering getting rid of it, but was wondering if anyone still uses and how they might use it for cardmaking or other projects? I guess I should plug it in to make sure it still works lol.
Oh golly .... mine was put into a jelly jar box years ago in the event I could sell it. That box still sits in an out of the way spot with other unloved items. Loved the idea! Used it twice. These are the things that could possibly haunt a few friends.
I still use mine a lot. When I have remaining wax from my jar candles, mostly Yankee Candles, I re-melt the wax in the Melting Pot and make votives. I have a votive mold, wicks, and metal wick bases. I used to make my own candles years ago. I'm also thinking of using it to make soap. Yes, of course I need another hobby that I won't have time for, LOL!
I was thinking about seals on your envelopes, but would the PO accept that in this day and age?
I saw a Jennifer McGuire video some time ago where she was showing these waxed seals. She shared that she has sent cards with them and not had any issues.
My son and future daughter-in-law just sent out wedding invites and a few have seals on the back. So we may know real soon if they cause problems!

Same here lol. One of those things I had to have lol. I used it quite a bit when I first got it when I was heavy into jewelry making and decorating small papier mache boxes. Then nothing for a decade or two lol.
I did a workshop long ago, where we used stamps and beeswax to make luggage tags. My sample is still attached to one of my supply totes, I handle it several times each month and it still looks great. I kept the melter and still have a jar of the beeswax pellets. I think you might have inspired me to drag it out and play!

I inherited one from a friend with the wax pellets. Was not sure what to do with it so it sits in my drawer. I was watching a guy on YouTube a while back and he used a pot to make fake flower wreaths. He would dip the stems into the pot and place them on the wreath. It was like using a glue gun but a lot less mess and easier. Haven't tried it yet but it definitely looks interesting...

It will be fun to play with something you haven't done in a long time!

I have used it fill small molds with UTEE and I have melted wax chips for seals by using silicone cupcake holders to make wax seals. I use them for mixed medium as I will not pay to ship a card in a box.

You just got me thinking. I am good at looking at old stuff and wondering how much dust has accumulated. HOWEVER, am pretty sure the melted wax can be used in silicone molds like the intricate ones that Prima makes. One day I saw an artist use hot glue sticks in a mold and used the perfect results to attach to a mixed media object. She covered it with paints, and mix media wax, etc. So I tried it and it came out amazingly well. So, I believe that the melting pot could be used to melt UTEE and poured into molds. I'm gonna try it.
Using old tools for new projects. I have two pots with old attachments. I keep in contact with Suze Miller to this very day.

That's what I used to do with my melting pot and UTEE. BTW, did you mean Suze Weinberg?

Just received a card in the USPS mail with a seal that was mailed from a state away. The seal was fairly flat but they did not charge extra postage and it arrived intact.
