You're not gonna get a clean image when stamping with the ranger distressed inks. They are made to wick with water. you can read about the distressed ink at the ranger website here: http://www.rangerink.com/tips_distress.html
from the site:
"COLOR WICKS OR SPREADS OUT - (these inks will travel across the surface of your paper when spritzed with water) other dyes do not travel as much although they might bleed a little when wet, the Distress Inks actually "wick"
or spread out much further creating several tone on tone."
Hello! Just wondering if you can get a clean image from the Ranger inks and watercolor with them?

I can't speak to the watercolouring aspect of the Distress Inks (DI) but you get as crisp and clean an image when stamping with them as you do any other ink. My gallery is full of cards stamped with DI. Their water-based, archival, pure-colour bleeding nature lends them well to different distressing effects with water, but other than having a slightly longer drying time that allows you to do some different techniques with them, they are like any other dye ink.

Have you had this issue when stamping with your DI? I haven't run into this, and DI are my primary stamping inks, but maybe I am missing out on something cool!
Only watercolour with distress inks if you WANT the colour to bleed into your other colours! If you don't want bleeding, use a waterproof inkpad. Most of the stuff in my gallery is stamped and watercoloured with distress inks. I use it mostly because I love the vintage and antique looks.
I got one and it does a good job with solid lines. I also stamped an image and used a blender pen to draw the ink inward and also used the SU classic markers in soft subtles ( to check for smearing ) and it does wonderfully. Thanks for all the input!

Has anyone tried the Ranger distressed embossing powders with their inks ?
Just wondering if the heat gun used on the embossing powder does anything to the distressing ink.
Thanks ~
Ellen S.
I've tried the Ranger Distressed EP and am not reeel sold on them. However when you do heat them some of the EP does rub off/it's supposed to. I guess I have never played a lot with them to be able to recommend or not.
I liked them since they are different. They are not smooth or glossy, but the release they have are cool. They feel like sandpaper after you are done. I tried them at the scrapbook expo here in town.

Same here. You also have to heat and heat and heat them to make sure they're done as they don't go all glossy once melted (or really change colors) like normal embossing powder. The lady I did the make and take with said that you should use the Ranger ink they designed for the product with them as the powder does not stick so well to Versamark.

I can also add that the DI did not work with regular embossing powders when I tried it out.
I tried them with Versamark at the expo and they stuck fine. Hmmm... will have to really start experimenting! This is a great discussion to really find out what people are liking!
thanks! tammy
