Default Q for Big Shot owners and Nesties?

Is it absolutely necessary to have the Spell Binder's Spacer plate in order to emboss and cut using Nesties? I have the BISK add-on for my Big Shot and it's got that purple plate, would that be the same thing? Thanks!

I've got the Big Kick which is basically the same machine as the Big Shot and use the Multi-platform with it so don't need the spacer thing. I found my recipe on Ellen Hutson or Nicole Heady's (Papertrey) blog. Don't have a link, but I'm sure you can google them.

Good luck!

I use a piece of fun foam to get the embossing to work but if you just wanted to cut then the multi-platform works fine.

Hi darcy,

I have developed the sandwiches that work best with our spellbinders dies including the nestabilities.....;) you can watch the DVD I did demonstrating this at www.youtube.com The sandwiches i developed with each machine is best for using the Spellbinders dies including the Nestabilities..... watch the DVD and you can see how simple it is to use the spacer plate with the bigshot machine. It makes the cutting and embossing of our dies very simple..... and by the way, fun foam DOES NOT emboss our Spellbinders dies very deeply.... We discovered that point 4 years ago while developing the Wizard..... and Spellbinders dies ....if you want the true embossing detail then our tan mats were developed at the proper thickness and material, to give you the best results possible.

I use a BigShot with Nestabilities and I just use a 3 cereal box cardboards along with the multi-spacer platform. I earlier used to simply use 3-5 cardstocks so you can use that too.

For embossing you'll find lots of threads that talk about using a plumber's gasket available at Home Depot/Lowe's for $2 and it seems to work great for people! I tried to using fun foam for embossing but it would cut through the foam so that every time I would need a new piece of foam. That is very cumbersome for me. I'll try the gasket sometime.
