Question PTI Ink and Stamp help

I'm having a problem with blotches when I stamp using PTI stamps with PTI ink. It's the ink I'm having a problem with, because I can use my SU! ink with PTI stamps and everything works fine.
What am I doing wrong? Am I pressing too hard? Am I not covering the stamp thoroughly enough?
TIA for your thoughts!

Sometimes there is a film on the clear stamps from manufacturing. I usually put my stamp on the block and scrub it on the cleaning pad before inking it the first time. Give that a try!

Which ink are you using? Is it the new pigment formula?

I personally just think it's the ink. Mine are like that too. If I want a cleaner image I have to use memento. (I also have the PTI cubes... I get a much better inking with the pure poppy pad that I have, which is full size because it doesnt' come in a cube.)

I also frequently have problems with PTI ink. Most of my PTI ink is the cubes.

Ditto for me, certain PTI colors just do not stamp clean images, no matter what you do. I would email PTI customer service to see about an exchange.

I have the same problem, I usually buy PTI cubes. I am not really happy with the new Pigment ink either. In my opinion, it is too watery and you don't have to press too much. Some colors are MUCH better than others. I use mostly Tsukineko inks, the are much more reliable. I have all the Palette Inks, but I cannot use them for every technique, sometimes the coverage is bad, they work better with outline stamps.

I have three of the PTI ink cubes. They do not stamp very well.

I own the PTI ink cubes and just found if I stamp the image a few times on scratch paper it gets rid of the "film" left on the stamps when they're shipped. I also love Colorbox Chalk Inks for clear stamps. HTH.

If you're using Palette inks, you have to let them dry for a few minutes and you will notice the coverage improve. It's just the way the ink is. But if it's their custom ink colors, some of the lighter colors are notorious for not stamping well. That's why they were switching over to a pigment formula. What ink colors are you having issues with?

before PTI changed their ink formula I used to buy every single color in full size pad and the refill. I am not liking the new formula so I am not buying them anymore... :( I love PTI stuff though.
blessings.

Thanks for all the commiseration ladies! I'm having trouble with my Ocean Tides cube and Aqua Mist full size pad. Is anyone else?

I've always had trouble with my ocean tides cube (all my cubes). It is splotchy. I just bought the full size pad, though, becuase (1) I like the color and (2) the pure poppy pad actually works pretty well and (3) I don't want the pigment formula when it's replaced. I hate pigment.

Aqua mist was one of the original formulations with which they had much difficulty... do you have the pigment formula or the original palette type ink? If you have pigment, I can't help you. If you have the original, one tip they had been giving was to use the back of a spoon to rub the pad. This was supposed to help bring the ink to the surface or mix it or something. I dunno.

If you remain unsatisfied, you might email and ask for a replacement, at least on the aqua mist. They had a deadline for exchanges, but I think that might have been open ended, just-send-it-in-no-questions-asked returns. You might be able to get return/exchange instructions individually through an email. Or PM jenniferellefson, who I think is also here on SCS. She is doing some CS responses.
