Easy solution to this problem since you have original reinker. SU sells a pack of 5 uninked cubes with the felt pad (this is the same stuff that the old big pads were made of). All you need to do is add ink to one of these pads and you are good to go! Riding Hood Red is one of my favs, too. Just used it on a card last month. :cool:

I agree with using reinkers on the mini uninked cubes. I purchased them to create my own Distress Oxide mini pads using the reinkers and they work just fine.

I have been reading, and enjoying this thread. I totally agree with embossing powder...there is a shelf life to that product...don't know what length it is, but I have a few little jars from quite awhile ago, and they don't melt like the newer ones. I have a tool that has lasted at least 12 years, possibly more, with daily use...my little orange Fiskars guillotine 8" paper cutter. As I was an elementary teacher for 35 years, I learned the ins and outs of a guillotine paper cutter....it is the best if you take the time to learn the idiosyncrasies of it. The newer ones are self-sharpening. Mine is as sharp as it was when I bought it. I also have a 12" cutter (don't know the brand) for larger paper, but the little Fiskars sits on my desk 24/7. It has been amazing.

I was pleasantly surprised the other day when I went to use some embossing powder that I had custom mixed. Years ago I mixed silver and glitter silver together for a more subtle look, but I hadn't used it for a long time. I tried it, and it worked great! It looks like they were both Stampendous.

Disappointing-
The Cricut (I just never embraced it),
some washi tape is so hard to get a single solid piece its not worth the time,
Glue gun- too large and hard to finagle lol

All papercutters- I am still on the quest for the perfect cutter!
Love my big shot! Use it daily, and my trimmers, score board, su inks and papers. I've learned not to buy other paper because it ends up being not as good quality and I give it away! Also love the oxide inks. Blends are cool too. Don't know why I bought the zigs or prisma color pencils becauseni don't color a lot. I also quit buying the stampin write markers because I don't use them. And the drawer of retired markers is fuller than the current ones!
Love the punches and dies I have.
And my new cellphone! My old one was 8 years old! And super slow. I can now upload directly from the new phone!
On the plus side, I have to agree about the Brilliance ink pads. I've had mine for years and am always amazed at how great they still work. I'm also still using the Marvy heat tool I got when I first started stamping around 20 years ago. On the negative, I can't seem to use a gel pen more than a few times before it quits working. I think I've thrown out a landfill's worth, for sure. I do love them, so I bought a couple new ones and am hoping to keep the little blob on the tip to see if I can keep them going.
ugh, gel pens are the worst! I have thrown out so many of them that stopped working before I used them even once. Now I avoid buying gel pens, except for white ones.

My short lived Scotch ATG gun. I had it less than a week and sent it back, too many globs, didn't stay on track, and the final straw was the tape broke. It was not worth the mess and frustration in book.
Thank you very much for your post. I think what I meant was that they are discontinuing this ink and are not coming up with any new colors and haven't been for 10 years or more at least that's what I've been told by a local stamp shop who has since closed. We have many Amish shops in this area, as they enjoy stamping/die cutting/making cards, but at least half of them have closed too.
what area are you from that have Amish shops? I'm near Volant, but never knew the Amish did cards... thanks
Nothing to add to this except a weird observation: I have been collecting "stuff" for a little over 30 years - on other threads I've said 20+, but I did the math and I was previously wrong, which goes to the point I'm making here. Most of my stuff still seems kind of "new" to me except the really, really old stamp sets, so I'm always surprised when I go through my gallery to find a card where I used a particular item and find that it was so very long ago (often ten years or more). Time really is relative...

Yep, I can relate to what you're saying. I've come across cards that I made many, many years ago using techniques that have been forgotten, but are worth revisiting with the new mediums I've collected since their creation.

-I used SU ink pads as well. I like the ones that you have to push down and flip open the tops- the newer version- the pads are not lasting well for me. They develop pits in them.
-I love the Distress ink and Distress Oxide inks. I have a few tins of the Distress inks in cube sizes- when I go out of town, they are the inks I take with me- and I use them for everything- watercoloring, etc....
-Love the score boards I have- use them alot!
I have a roll of 2" double sided tape- LOVE it! It has lasted a few years now!

I have a full drawer of ribbon- use it rarely

I'm so sorry... I did not see your post to answer you. I live South of Lancaster, PA - there are only about 3 left, if that many. I haven't been there for years and years. At the height of their stamp/scrapbooking shops, I'm sure there were probably a dozen. Those that are left have gone up in price quite a bit. Where is Volant?

My cuttlebug is still going strong after 13 years!
I get frustrated by the new SU foam pads I bought Lemon Lime Twist, used it once and didn’t use it again for almost a year and it was all dried up
I have some SU ink that’s never been re-inked and it’s over 10 years old and still going strong. I know it was never re-inked as I didn’t buy re-inkers way back.
This is so discouraging to read about the SU foam pads. I just ordered a few more. But I have not really had any issues with the ones I have. Sorry about your lemon lime twist one!
Shelly, I have lots of ribbon too! I even dreamed the other night I was using it on a card, lol...

I'm very disappointed with my Swarovski Hot Fix crystals. I almost ruined 2 Christmas presents yesterday. I cut some vinyl butterflies on my Cricut Explore Air, and then I applied them to 2 t-shirts. I had some problems, but I got everything to work. Then I decided to add some bling to the shirts and pulled out my hot fix crystals and tool.
The glue seems to have completely disappeared, because I could only get 2 of them stuck down. The others didn't even have any glue, because I didn't see any melting on the bottoms of the crystals. I ended up having to use a little E600, and I'm crossing my fingers that they hold up through the wash.
I'm very disappointed, since these are from Swarovski and not cheap. I've had them for a long time, but I expected better longevity from such a reputable company. I'm thinking I might have gotten a defective batch, because the glue shouldn't have just evaporated. I'm going to try another batch. If the E6000 works, I'll use that going forward. If not, I'll have to use Glue Dots on them for card making and scrapbooking.

Buy a bottle of Aleene's Jewel It, or OK To Wash It. I prefer the Jewel It, which held gems on a sweatsuit I made for YEARS through machine washing. Seriously- it's fabulous for gems to fabric!

Oh wow, I just returned a Scott's 714 ATG gun because the 3M 908 tape wouldn't fit on it. Besides, the mold smell of it was powerful! it must have spent a year on a slow boat from china. getting wet and awful. It looked fine! A replacement sits in the post office but I can't get to it because it is snowing.
