I hear everyone talking about the prisma pencils, but I don't know what makes them different from others. Are they a regular or watercolor? And I have also heard that you can use them with baby oil? Lost on that one.
While I believe they may make watercolor sets, the ones I love are the oil based pencils.
You can use the pencils with soft pressure, or with a lot of pressure and achieve wonderful coloring results, but when you use mineral oils the colors can be blended to create lovely, vibrant results...great for coloring stamped images with.
While I have a set of Prisma color pencils, I haven't figured out what's so great about them either. I have had them about a year and have tried all the techniques, gamsol, baby oil and still prefer to use my water color pencils for coloring. Maybe it's just a personal preference, but I don't think they're so hot. JMO

Thanks for enlightening me
Check out this tutorial, the results are wonderful, the instructions are very clear. This is my very favorite way to color. Good luck!
I just bought a ton of these and I am so inlove with them. They just work so much better for me then anything else that I have tried. I was using watercolor markers and that just looked horrible and I never had the color that I was looking for, now with my prismas I never have that problem. They look great with my OMS too!
I have some prismacolor pencils and some Koh I Nor, but they have been sitting around because I was having fun using the Prismacolor Markers. I picked up the pencils last night to color an image because I was getting frustrated with ink smearing with the markers. I had forgotten how cool the pencils were! Using the OMS makes it so nice!

I absolutely LOVE my prismas. I outline the area that I want to color (lightly for a softer look and heavier pressure for a brighter/darker shade), blend with the Gamsol or OMS, and the color is so nice!! I am not as good with markers, and there are so many more colors to choose from and blend together with prismas to come up with the SU color that you need. I have the SU watercolor pencils (older ones), and I like them too, but the colors didn't always match very nicely. These are terrific. I always grab my prismas when I am coloring in an image. See my gallery for many house mouse images and some floral images that I have colored with prismas. Kelly
Here is one of my favorite floral stamps colored with prismas. I washed the color out a little bit in the picture when I brightened it up (more vibrant IRL).
Kelly your card is BEAUTIFUL! Alright, maybe I'll give my prismas another try...just haven't been able to really color anything that I love. I should probably give it some more practice huh? Thanks for sharing your card

Working with prismas does take practice, patience, and more practice. I pulled mine out yesterday for the first time and gave them a try. I didn't do such a hot job of coloring, but once I used the gamsol on the images they looked great! I know it will take some practice (and maybe some help with my coloring technique) but I will get it. I agree with Kelly that you can blend colors to match SU cardstock and ribbon, etc. rather well, maybe better than with markers or watercolor pencils. Good luck and don't give up! ;)
Prismacolor pencils are really a wonderful artist grade pencil.....good saturation of color and perfect amount of wax. Using them with gamsol IS my most FAVORITE way to color. Seems almost everything in my gallery is colored this way. I think if quite fast and you can get shading so easy. Watercolor and me just don't seem to get along as well.
