Default Prisma Pencils - How to buy?

I bought some odorless mineral spirits today and then I went to buy some Prisma pencils and had no clue which ones to buy. I saw water color pencils and then some that just said Prismacolor, didn't specify what they were made of. Anyone have a picture of what I need exactly? Thanks!

If you are going to use the OMS, then you are looking for the Prismacolor color pencils, not watercolor pencils. I bought mine on the bay and got a fabulous deal......$47 for the 120 set, plus shipping for a total of $56. If you're not sure about the purchase, then maybe start with a smaller set or just buy one or two individually. I was pretty sure that I wanted them and did not want the problem of duplicating colors by buying a smaller set initially and then wanting the larger set. Plus, I wanted the best possible buy for the money. Hope that helps a little. Good luck!

If you use SU, go for the bigger set. I thought the 72 would be enough, but I'm missing alot of SU colors. Now I have to go buy those colors individually. What a pain. Here is a great list of Prismas to SU colors.

I didn't compile the list, someone else did. I'm VERY sorry I forgot to keep the name on the file. If anyone else knows who did this list, please let me know so I can give credit.

If you are just going to blend with a blending pen than would you get the watercolor pencils or should a person just get the non water coloring kind.
Thanks,
Sheri

I bought the set with 72 pencils in it. It's OK, but would've loved to have bought a bigger set (couldn't afford the bigger set...). The 72 pencil set is a good starter set, though.

I just started a little while ago with this technique and I love it.
I use the Prisma Premier pencils. Bought them at M's with a coupon - only bought the 48 set and regret that now. Definitely buy the biggest set you can afford (and especially if you are using a coupon).
This is a great technique...and it adds so much to your stamped images. There are many amazing exmaples in the gallery of the Gamsol/OMS technique which may help in the shading, etc... HTH!
