I just printed my first digital stamp and the ink ran when colored with Copics. Does anyone know what kind of ink to print with to prevent this?
Thanks.
It depends on the brand on ink you use. I have a Canon MP560 and I haven't had any problems with either Canon ink or off brand for my printer. Does your printer have two black ink tank? Three things you can try to see if your printer ink can be used with Copics. Try printing in greyscale or B&W only, try the lowest quality setting (usually draft mode), and then try the highest quality setting.
You can also try leaving the image to dry completely or heat set it. Some people find that makes a big difference with their inks.
I find it best to use copic blending paper for printing off. You can't change you're printer ink so try this paper in the copic section and let air dry also. Love this paper http://www.amazon.com/Copic-Markers-.../dp/B005P1WBWO
I buy it from a craft store and use a coupon to get it discounted, usually 40% off that way

I have an HP Inkjet printer and I use the HP brand ink cartridges. and the ink smears with Copics even if I heat set the ink :(
From information that I've seen from other resources on this topic, the general consensus has been that Canon printers do a nice job with Copics and HP Inkjets not so much...
I have the Copic blending paper so I'll give that a try with my HP Inkjet - I had not thought about trying that paper - thanks for that suggestion, Carolyn!

Thanks for all the good info. I did not realize that this would be a problem, especially for HP. I think I'll inquire with Copic to see if they have a suggestion. In the meantime, regular stamps and Memento sound less problematic.
In general, ink jet copies will smear if they get wet. Laser copies will be OK.
I have an HP ink jet copier and the ink smears if it gets the slightest bit wet. So if I want to use copies of any images in my artwork, I take them to Staples (or Kinko's, or Office Depot, or a local copy center, etc) to make laser copies. If I have just one or two images, it's fastest to just print a hard copy at home and then use one of their self-serve copiers. If I have several things I want laser copies of, I save them to a thumb drive and take that to their copy center and ask them to print copies for me. (I've found that the copy center machines are higher quality than the self-service machines, but they're not always able to print copies for me while I wait.)
Most places also accept documents via email, which they'll print for you for pick-up later.
It depends on how many images you plan to print, but for the limited number of things I do, I find going to a copy center cheaper than buying my own laser copier. :p
I have an HP all in one printer with a CISS (continuous ink supply system) attached and have used it with success. Here's a link to one card I made. HTH Krikey Kreations: Birthday Flowers
Kristen, that is such a bright and pretty card. I bet your auntie loved it! The checked gingham DSP goes perfectly with the basket. Fantastic job coloring that basket too.
I've was messaged about my CISS setup. This is what mine looks like it could be tidier/hidden a bit more, but it is in an out of the way place that no one sees unless they walk up to it. love it.
I have an Epson all in one printer and it uses the larger bottles of ink. I have no problem with the inks on MOST papers. I think it is the combination of both that determines the compatibility with Copics. I have even used inexpensive Georgia Pacific 110lb white card stock with success, but not with Neenah so much.
