I discovered Prima Flowers before I discovered Silk flowers, believe it or not. Lol. I did see Silk Flowers mentioned on here before but I found some that were tiny enough to use on cards, from Michael's today and started getting a armful of them but told myself to just get a few at a time and see if I want to buy more.
My question is... what do you prefer? I only have one bottle of vintage multi colored primas and now have some silk flowers in 3 colors.
I am thinking silk flowers are much cheaper and come in more variety of colors.
Primas come in such beautiful bottles or containers.
What are you thoughts?

Don't look at me for advice, I'm in the same boat, lol! I guess it depends on the silk flower branch you pick, but it really seems like the primas have more than a branch would, with a lot less work. And, as you say, the bottles are way prettier!
There is something very appealing to me about the Primas--maybe I'm just a crowd follower! LOL I like the texture of them; I like the way they lay a little flatter than most silk flowers I find; I like the richness of the mulberry paper as opposed to most of the cheap (or affordable) silk flowers I see.
I am not philosophically opposed to silk flowers! :-) If I found just the right ones, then I would use them.
Someone had proposed a Prima swap, and I was looking in the Swap forum to see what the response had been. There was one offer, but she decided she couldn't share her Primas!!! Made me laugh! Then I realized I probably couldn't, either. ;) Hoarders Anonymous, here I come!
I think I'm in the minority here, but I find the Prima's very generic looking. I MUCH prefer the better quality silk flowers from HL or Michael's. If you've noticed, Heidi Swapp just came out with some lg. flowers that are just like some you can find at M's. JMO ;)

I saw the larger Heidi Swapp flowers (and the primas) at a lss today - well yesterday since it's like 3:30 in the morning now!) And I didn't get either of them, got too caught up in the Basic Grey papers. But I really liked the look of the larger flowers. One thing that bothers me about the primas is the bottle. Yes, it is very attractive, but if I started getting them, I would probably get caught up in collecting the bottles - and the last thing I need now is another collection! I was impressed with the number of flowers in the prima bottles, though. It was a much better bargain, even though you are paying for the bottle, too, than I expected.
I have some prima flowers that came in a kit I got on sale. I never go and buy silk flowers but I was getting rid of a silk flower bouquet that I recieved when DD was born. (DD got into it and broke the ceramic vase) I took the small silk flowers apart and they looked exactly like the prima's I got. Then I took the rest apart. I don't know if I'll ever use the rest (the leaves look good though) but I have it and I won't be buying any prima's until that stash is gone.

I have both and like both but for the cost I perfer silk. I have a huge variety of different silk flowers and I like them a lot! Now I am a hoarder also and I should "use" all of them more often !! I am unsure how to store my non Prima flowers ... as of right now they are in little baggies on an "O" ring

I love the Primas. It's difficult for me to find decent silks at Michael's that will look nice when torn apart. The Primas are a perfect size for their purpose and in those super cute bottles. I also believe they are scrapbook safe, which isn't true of silks.
You can buy the cute bottles at Michael's  I use ribbons, fibers, etc. in my books so I guess I'm not too concerned about "contrabrand" affecting my pages To each their own--that's the great thing about this hobby, there's something for all tastes!

I started out with Primas and never thought of putting actual flowers on my cards until SCS got me hooked on Primas. I guess now, I'm scared to even wander into the silk section because I really don't need more stuff. I probably have a lifetime supply of stamping stuff as it is, but I can't stop myself. Aaaaaggggggghhhh! LOL
I love the Primas and actually did share some of mine (it almost killed me!) at Christmas with my Granddaughter. Then I was blessed for my act of kindness, because my husband bought me a whole year (12 bottles) of Primas for my birthday. What a man! I have used silk for bigger projects, but love the primas!

I got out my reinkers and have "enhanced" my prima hydrangeas to add color variation, put blue on the white and green to tie them together, added purple/lavender to the edges. They take up ink just fine - and look even better if you ask me.
I prefer primas because I know they consistently can be customized with dye inks, and they don't have a big hole in the middle.
This is from left field, I'm sure ...where do you get the primas? How many for what price? Do they come assorted? And do you just use a brad to adhere a Prima flower on your CS? Thanks for your help!
www.franticstamper.com has a great selection and the prices aren't bad. They actually have good prices on lots of stuff, including Stickles glitter glue. They usually have a better price if you buy the whole selection of colors. If you by all 6 of the tins available right now in primas, you get a discounted price. Same with all 31 colors of Stickles.
www.jordanpaperarts.com also carries Primas and I like their service, but their selection varies and they seem to be out of stock a lot.
And do you just use a brad to adhere a Prima flower on your CS?
I have adhered some with brads. Others I have glued on with glue dots or Aleene's Quick Drying Tacky Glue (crystal effects, or whatever would also work). Sometimes I glue a bead in the center, sometimes a grouping of little seed beads, sometimes I color the center with a contrasting gel pen.
