Default Pink ATG-using regular atg refill in it?

Hi
I was wondering if anyone knows if you can use the regular 1/4" refill tape (like the one for the red ATG 714) for the new Pink ATG?
Hope someone knows and responds =)

Yes, they are both tools made by 3M. The pink one is supposed not be as sturdy since it was made specifically for crafters. Someone who has both stated that they really couldn't notice a difference. I have only the 3M 714 so can't confirm this statement.

Are you sure? Have you tried the gold tape in the pink atg?

After reading the posts about the new pink ATG at a reasonable price (even better with M's coupon) I purchased one. I know it is going to take me awhile to use the two rolls that came with the ATG. My question is I'd like to order some refill tape for it but not certain which to get. I know, from reading these posts, that the 1/4" from The Tape Depot will fit, and it is acid free. I plan to split an order for 12 rolls with a friend. The cost per roll, rounded out, will be $2.00 each. The cost of the 3M 1/4" acid free will be about $5.00. Does the Tape Depot tape work as well as the more expensive one from 3M? Will I notice a difference in the stick after using the 3M that came with my gun? All I use it for is card making and scrapbooking. I'd appreciate the opinions of anyone who has used both. Thanks!

Default pink ATG

I use the scotch gold acid free refills with the pink ATG. I get them in packs of two at Michael's with the coupon, which brings the price down to about $5 per roll. That is less expensive than tape depot, where the acid free are $5.50 each plus shipping.

I order from framingsupplies.com, and I use the 987 tape. It is not acid free, but I only make cards with it. It is pressure sensitive, so when you are sure it is where you want it, press down pretty well and it WON'T move, ever. The 60 YARD rolls are 3.15 for less than 12, or 3.04 for 12-71 rolls. I bought mine last year, and I haven't regretted it ever!

You may want to check Michael's again. At mine the acid free tape is only $9.99 for 2 rolls, so with a 40% coupon, that is $3 per roll.

The non acid free is is 5.99 for 2 rolls and is fine for cards and other projects.

I have my receipt, and it was $16.99 for two rolls of the 36 yard acid free. That was the posted price as well. As I mentioned, it came to just over $5 per roll with the coupon, which was a better price than Tape Depot. It is $5.50 per roll at Tape Depot, and then shipping is on top of that. I guess they must be cheaper in the US, and I'll have to stock up next time I cross the border!

Just bought my pink ATG yesterday at Michael's w/ a 50% off Joann's coupon.
Took DH and myself a little while to figure out how to load the tape. I think I will love using it. Much nicer than double sided tape in a dispenser.

This is a little off topic but I have found price differences depending on the Michaels. The premium Fiskar trimmer is $24.99 at one store and $29.99 at the other store. When I stocked up on Prismacolor pencils last year I found one store to sell them at $1.49 each and the other $1.79. One store is about 10 miles north of me and the other 10 miles south of me.

Thank you everyone for your replies in this thread! I've now purchased the ATG pink gun, and I love it! I'm thinking about persionalizing it a wee bit by covering up the place where it says Scotch Advanced Tape Glider with something pretty... Anyone that has persionalized their ATG, and have some pictures to share?

Here is a great deal on ATG tape. It is by Tape Depot, but it is cheaper to get it from their ebay store than from their website. Only $22.95 with FREE shipping for a 12 roll pack of 1/4" tape.

I think their website sells this same thing for $23.50 plus shipping. Go figure.

Check out cropandstick.com. The ATG 924 refill rolls are $2.80 each. The shipping's very reasonable. I had mine shipped to Hawaii.

I have a video on my blog here: My Crafty Life: Painting My ATG, Part 1. There are three parts, and I show you how to take it apart and put it back together again too. Have fun!

Default More Help?

This thread is SO helpful! I've been looking on thetapedepot.com and had a question. There are 4 choices that come up under ATG refills, and what is reverse wound? I'm looking into ordering a case, and wanted to make sure I get EXACTLY the right ones, as it looks like they don't have a great return policy. Would one of you that uses these and knows which ones possibly post a link to the correct refills?

I'd really appreciate it. I don't know a lot about this gun, or the others for that matter, but am starting an invitation business so I need a LOT of refills!

when you are on their site, go to atg tape... I assume you dont need acid free, and for the standard gun- 1/4"
if thats the case, click on the 1st pic. atg 7502..on the rite side there are 2 drop downs. The first will let you choose a sub pack of 12, or the 2nd drop down lets you order 144 or more.
Hope this helps. I get the 144 and share with friends but it works out to be about 1.16 a roll with the free shipping.

This is the best deal I've found for ATG tape. It is the ebay site for Tape Depot. Don't know why, but it's cheaper to order it here than on their regular website. It's not an auction, but a Buy it Now price, $22.95 for 12 rolls, with free shipping.

Oops - just saw that I posted this same info a couple of posts up. Sorry.

When I have ordered 12 rolls from the TapeDepot's eBAY site I have never had any problems. The order shipped quickly. When I ordered 144 rolls from their TapeDepot store site to split with other it took nearly 1.5 mo to receive all of my 144 rolls. I'll order from their eBAY site but will not order from the store in the future even if the 144 rolls are only $1.17 per roll.

I just checked my original link to the Tape Depot on ebay, and see they have raised their price for 12 rolls of tape by about $4 since I posted the link in August. Inflation is going to be the death of us all!

Bugga that is a 17% increase on tape refills since August
25% increase in the price of Copic Sketch markers
50% increase on the stuff in the $1 bin at Michael's

I have a feeling that the price increase on the tape rolls is partly due to their increased postage costs - since I don't believe that anything has truly "free" shipping. The shipping cost is just built into the price of the item.

The Michael's dollar bin increase, though - that kind of cheeses me off. I think that they might find that the items don't sell as well. I know in the whole scheme of things 50 isn't that much. But the way my mind works, for $1 I'll say "what the heck, why not, it's only $1." For $1.50, it's not a nice even number, now I'm thinking. And once I start thinking, I'll probably pass. Not that that's a bad thing. I really don't need another 23 ink pads that I can't refill (purchased 2 or 3 at a time, because they were only a dollar).

What you are saying about Michaels is very true . . . It's a good thing they increased the price for me. Now I am not tempted to put something in my basket because "it's just a dollar."

I don't think my dinky little cost of living increase on my SS check is going to go very far this year.:(
