I found a pink Scotch/3M (advanced tape glider is what the box says) at michaels today. I was wondering how good this one is compared to the other ATG guns. I have been wanting the 714 3M one. What I really want is a tape gun that the tape holds well. I am tired of my cards falling apart.
It is supposed to be just like the 714, but not made as sturdy. More for hobby crafters than industrial use. I have one on pre-order, I can't wait to get it.
BTW, how much was it at Micheals?
I just brought two of them online and I also have a 714 3M and everything that I've read says they are the same just a little smaller for crafters. The refills are the same. Hey with a coupon that should be a good buy.

Um...I think it was 34.99. I used a 40% coupon. We only got 2 in and a lady had one of them on hold so I didn't want to wait for a 50%!!
The box says it holds a 36yd roll. That is the size roll I was looking at on FramingSupplies.com.
The refills at Mikey's were 5.99. I think you get two in a pack. So with a coupon that's not too bad is it?? You don't have to pay shipping...........???
Still haven't opened mine. Waiting to hear what more people say.
I bought one with my 50% off coupon. It is the same as the 714 and therefore takes the 1/4" 36 yd rolls (2 are included in box). I have the old yellow 700 and it looks exactly the same, plastic and metal parts, but it feels a bit lighter in weight. Refills are $10 for 2 pack of 36 yds, before coupon.
Yeah I preordered mine but 3M screwed up royally with the tape refills so there won't be any available until at least August 9th! So frustrated about that.

I preordered mine from Glenda's Creative Place for $30 including shipping and the two refills. I decided not to wait for Michael's because my local M's takes forever to get new items in and is over 30 minutes away. Too far to go just to go and see if they have them in or any left. I love my red 714, but it has a lot of miles! I get my refills at The Tape Depot, either their ebay store or online which ever is running the best deal!
I bought one yesterday for my mom at the local Michael's. I called the company before purchasing it to see if it was the same as the 714 that I already have.. the lady said it was about the same, but a different model 085. The lady said that they use the same refills. The gun was $34.99 and the refills that are a two pack were $5.99. I had an ACMoore 50% off coupon and used it on just the gun.

I was in my Mikes yesterday to get some felt to make my own felt flowers, and happened to come across the pink ATG and bought it, so I hope you are all right in saying it is a good thing to have. I am in Canada and up here it is $49, but I had my Coupon and got it for $24
hoping to get it when my Michaels has it. What section are they in ;)
They are a little tricky to find - it took awhile even though I was looking for it. I had read that they were on endcaps. Actually, it's more like the side of an endcap. Just a small section of adhesives and the guns were hanging at the very bottom. I think it may have been part of the adhesives aisle - at least, it's near that area.

Yes that is where I found mine, on the little end cap at the end of the scrapbook adhesive aisle
I just came here to see if there are any reviews of it yet. I finally, after over a year of flipflopping - bought the Tape Depot brand (if I had only been indecisive for a few more months), but have had a heck of a time with the tape not winding on the back roller properly, and the tape doesn't stick to the paper well. Not sure if it's the tape, the gun, or the user! wondering if I should ditch it for the M's one.
Anyone else have the Tape Depot one and jumped ship and glad they did?
Couldn't find them tonight at my M's but I will keep an eye out. I have one on order at Custom Crops but I guess they are having a hard time getting them from the supplier. I am trying to be patient but its hard! I am eager to hear what others have to say about it.

Carrie, you need to make sure you load the tape properly. It no kidding needs to click into the roller. You will see a black tab down in there and it needs to get into the grooves of the tape roll. There is a You Tube video someone made of how to load it. LMK if you need me to find that for you.
I have the yellow one (got it a couple of birthdays ago) and would love it very much if I could get the refills at M's instead of my LSS. I'd love to support my local people, but if I can save a few bucks (40% coupon) then I will.
I've been thinking about painting my ATG like some of the super-cool ones I've seen, but I worry about the down time.

There's a video on my blog about painting your ATG. At the end, I also show how to load the ATG 50. I was without my ATG for only half a day. By the evening, it was dry and ready to use.

I just placed my first order with The Tape Depot for ATG tape and it doesn't stick to the paper at all and makes a mess. I have been very frustrated. I think I need to contact them.
My ACM and Michael's both looked at me like I had three heads when I asked for this -- I'm bummed!
I find it very frustrating how the stores vary so much. I haven't even check my local M's but I have a feeling they'll be behind the curve, too (like with all the cool $1 stamps). :-x
OK, another question. I found the 3M one at MIchaels, and didn't get it , I wanted to use the coupon. Today they were gone. Next stop, ACMoore, they had a smaller pink tape glider for $14.99. Looks like it holds less and refills were $10.00. Which one should I get, any good reviews on both?
Yahoooooooooo! I called my M's about a week and a half ago to see if they had the new 3M ATG. They were busy and asked if they could call me back when they had a more time to look for me. I said sure. About an hour later they called me back and said that they probably would not get any because they were a C store but she would check with her store manager. Well fast forward to about 15 minutes ago. She just called me back again and they got 8 of them in and one is reserved with my name on it. Here is the best part---- I asked if they would hold one for my mom too and 2 sets of refills, she said of course!!!! I am so excited right now.
I recommend to call and ask. They told me that they had a few people asking about them and so they ordered them special and they are going to be keeping the refills in stock as well.
I have a 3M ATG 700 that I bought at a show from DeNami before
they were available everywhere---she sells refill rolls for $4.00 each.
Too much---go on ULINE - Cardboard Boxes, Shipping Supplies, Packaging Materials, Plastic Bags and they sell refills for the 3M
ATG 700 and 714 for as cheap as $2.65 per roll. Ordered one day
and received my order the next... cp

Purchase the 3M... Especially since you can get it with a coupon, and it comes with two rolls of tape to start you off, that's 72 yards of tape.
I believe the other comes with only about 40 feet. That is a big difference.
Also when they first came out with the ATG it was about 40-60$ and no tape, no coupon. At 35.00 even with a 40% coupon that is only 20$, and two rolls of tape as an added bonus.

I agree I have the Glue Glider Pro and like it but the refills are expensive. I am picking up my new ATG on Monday (M's is holding it for me).
I JUST GOT ONE AT MY MIKE'S TODAY!
OMG! I could not believe that they had it up here. Usually Alaska is the dead last to get anything. Unless you order online. Which I have been procrastonating about. I am so glad I waited! I almost ordered back in March when they had that HUGE back log of backorders. It was $43.99 (this is AK), with coupon I got it under $30. Still cheaper than ordering online cuz it would have had to pay shipping. The only thing is now I have to go back. While I was admiring my new tool out of the box I misplaced the tape that came with it. Now I have to try and convince them I am not lying to get more tape.
Talked to Dept mgr who was very nice and said they had them somewhere in the back but not yet on the shelves. If she knew exactly where they were she would have gotten me one! She said to check back in a few days. I just heard about them today from this thread! Thanks for all the info. I do have one question. Are the refills the Scotch Gold (acid free) ATG? I already have one ATG and I only use the gold tape. Thanks.
Thank you so much fellow enables. I went to Mike's and fully expected not to find this covetted item. I asked the nice man putting up stock if he could check and see if they had "the big pink thing that holds double sided tape". He asked what is really called and who made it. Imagine my suprise when he came back carrying the Pink ATG gun. Color me happy. If you don't see it there ask someone. Yours may be hiding in the stock room too.
If you can't find it at Micheals ask an associate to type that number in their "gun" and that should show them where it is in the store! It is new and a lot of the people who work there won't have a clue about it....but anyone with a "gun" should be able to locate one for you....or at least show you where it is in the store.
You may even be able to ask them for a raincheck for it. Then when it comes in they will hold one for you and give you a call.

My Mike's told me they didn't even carry the gun. Wonder if I should wait a little and go back and give them the UPC....lol! I kindly told them that Michael's does in fact carry it! Wonder if the east coast hasn't gotten any in??

I am in Ohio and we just put ours out last week. So, maybe some stores haven't recieved them yet or they haven't put them out.....or like I mentioned before, they just don't know what it actually is or where it is in the store. I honestly wouldn't have known we had them if my boss didn't point one out to me....and she only did because she thought I would be interested in it!
And someone mentioned they were told that their Michaels was a "C" store and wouldn't get them. My store is an "E" store.....very low on the "totum pole" of sales. So, if we got them I can't imagine that the more profitable stores wouldn't be getting them. BUT, maybe that's why ours are out already. We probably get less stuff than the other stores therefor we get our merchandise out quicker..............just a thought.
