Default Photo Corner Punch

I know that Sizzix makes a die cut that does the little "L" shaped photo corners but does anyone know if anyone makes a punch that will make these? I just think that will be easier for me.

Thanks!
Jamie

I saw one at the craft store, but I'm not sure what company made it -- possibly by Whale of a Punch?

Yep--It's a Whale of a Punch by EK Success. I know because I have one and it's a greenish gray color. It's a bit larger than the Sizzix diecut.
It measures approx. 1 3/8" x 1 3/8" widthwise/lengthwise and 1 7/8" diagonally.

Default photo corners

I have some corner punches, but for variety would like some other ideas for scrapbooking so the pictures are not glued down. Anyone know any great ideas for home-made photo corners?

Look on page 182 of the Stampin' Up! catalog. They sell a corner punch.

I believe that the SU punch will make two sizes of Photo Corners so you can layer them like this....

You can easily make your own photo corners that wrap around to the back of the photo. The way I learned is to start with a square of paper - 1 1/2 inches is a good size. Score and fold the square diagonally both directions, then open it back up. You will have four triangular sections. Cut one triangle away and discard. The triangle opposite the one you cut away is the photo corner - what you'll see of it. The other two sections can be folded to the back (so they overlap), then glued together. Does that make sense? It's faster to do it than to explain it!

I'm new to the site and haven't uploaded photos here before. Once I figure that out, I'll try to post a picture to help you visualize it...

Guess I'm really lazy...think I'd rather invest 15.00 on the punch!

Okay, trying to add a picture here...hopefully it works. The top left square shows the diagonal creases, top right shows what it looks like when one triangle has been cut away, and the bottom shows the finished photo corner. If you want it to be L-shaped like the punches, just use the corner of a square to draw "notch lines" on the front triangle, then trim (do this before gluing so that you don't cut the parts that fold to the back).

Oh yeah, I have a photo corner punch and love it, but every once in awhile it's nice to use a photo corner like a real, well, photo corner and be able to insert a picture or something in it that can be removed, kwim? When you want something functional as well as decorative. This way fits the bill and it's actually very fast if you have a square punch.

I totally want it. I was wondering if it was a pain, though. I am part of Wish RAK and I've had that wish (for photo corners) up for a while and have really not gotten many at all, but when I wished for Round Tab Corner ones, I got a TON, so I thought maybe it was difficult.

The thing with the corner punch, IMO, is that it is not a "trendy" thing at all. Corner punches will always be in style and are SO versatile. I'll definitely have to get it.

Thanks for the info!

Cindy

I've got several boxes of photo corners(the real ones) that I use sometimes...I have them in black and white. But, I'm really looking forward to my punch...I'm not a scrapbooker, just a cardmaker....

You can make your own photo corners with 2 different sizes of square punches. First punch the smaller square in your cardstock. Leave enough room around it to create the corner. Now take your bigger sized square punch and, using it upside down, center the smaller punched area within the larger square and punch. You will have a frame now. Cut it in half, corner to corner and you will have 2 corners. Depending on the sizes of square punches you have, you could make these in many sizes. I used this technique for this scrapbook page accent. I also used the western boho color scheme from the catty. Love how those colors go together so well.

I just use my frame die in my Sizzix and cut off the corners. I also have the decorative photo corner die, which is a Thin Cuts die made by Ellison. Easier to store and less money.

YLM showed me something neat when she was here in June. You need to do it with thin paper if you are wrapping it or cut it if you are using thicker paper. Punch out the scallop heart. Use the hump parts of the heart for a nice corner and wrap the 'extra' to the back of the card or cut. I hope that makes sense......sorry I don't have any kind of picture.

Sounds lovely. I gather you lay the bump part on top and turn the pointy part to the back?
