Default Pens

I have Promarker pens, and use them to colour ribbon, lace and so to match a colour scheme. Are there any others that are just as effective but without the price tag ? Any recommendations would be appreciated. By the way I am in the UK so many brands may not be available to us as we are still way behind everyone else.
Thank you
T

I use Blends from Stampin' Up! to color the same materials. I don't know your budget but they seem reasonably priced.

I use any of my alcohol markers for this. I have Copic, SU Blends, Spectrum Noir, Ohuhu, Bic...all alcohol markers work together and will color ribbon. It makes it so much easier on the budget.

Promarkers are actually more reasonably priced than many other alcohol markers. If I compare apples to apples (markers in sets, on Amazon): Promarkers are about $2 each in sets, Copic are $3.35 to $4 each in sets. SU blends don't come in sets like those, they are about $5 each. Single Copics can be $8 each.

If you want a less expensive alcohol marker for coloring ribbon and such, I would suggest Sharpie permanent markers. They come in many colors (in sets) and run in the $0.50 to $0.70 each. I have never seen single Sharpies in a wide variety of colors.

I’ve not tried this, but what about just using alcohol ink?

If you are using the colored ribbon jut for cards, you can also use water-based markers or re-inkers. That's what I do, as those inks are much cheaper than alcohol-style type.

I believe you can also use ink pads to color ribbons just like direct-to-paper to the ribbon. That might stretch your supplies a bit.

my experience with this method is that the color fades relatively quickly (less than a year). and also, if the ribbon comes in contact with moisture like all water based inks, the ink will run and transfer to unwanted areas of the card stock. permanent inks are a better solution
