I always use carpet tape, which is double sided. I figure if it can hold a carpet to the floor for years it ought to hold paper on a can. So far so good!
I get the carpet tape at the hardware store. They have two different types. Interior and exterior. I buy the interior stuff because there's more on a roll, but the exterior would work just as well I'm sure. It's slightly thicker and a darker colour. The interior stuff is white.
Try Crystal Effects or Mod Podge. Just paint them on the back. The Mod Podge you have more time to work with than the Crystal Effects.
Or the Red line tape.
I have used a xyron machine and that works, I also used the red line tape (sticky strip) and my sister has used Alleens glue sp? with great outcome. HTH

I find the ultimate glue the best for gluing paper to metal. I have used it on the purse tins, mint tins, and others. In fact, it is the only glue that I use.
I, too, use Modge Podge. I fit my paper around my tin, making sure that everything lines up well and I cut around the circles that the handle is attached to using my x-acto knife.
Once I know that everything's good to go, I paint the can with Modge Podge and put my paper on. You have some time to spare using Modge Podge, so you can reposition the paper just the way you want it.
I also use a couple of coats of Modge Podge on the outside of the paper as well, just as a sealer.
I made one for my son's teacher this year and even "antiqued" it with an ink pad made for antiquing, and applied the ink right over the dried coat of Modge Podge, rubbing it in with a sponge. It turned out just beautiful - and I couldn't have done it so well without the Modge Podge on the finished can.

I swear by USArtquest's/Home Studio International's PPA (Perfect Paper Adhesive). A little more expensive than Mod Podge, but easier clean up. Works great with cs on paint cans. And USArtquest is located right here in the little ol' village of Grass Lake, MI (www.usartquest.com).
I'm using an idea I saw here on the board and in the e-mail newletter. I'm making Smore kits. Everyone who has gotten them all ready just loves them. Thank you to who ever came up with the idea!

I should also mention that my SU! upline really likes PPA--she's decorated many paint cans (like 50 million), and I've only altered two. PPA worked great.
Sorry couldn't help but be curious, what are smore kits?
This is from the thread I read earlier. The thread is in Stmaping Stuff> Stampin 101> Smore kits.(Sorry, I could not figure out how to just link you to the thread. I'm computer challenged)
This thread is great it has alot a great ideas about the kits.
" What are in mine are all ideas I have gleaned off of this great site. My kits are for 6 people to have 1 smore each. I put a package of graham crackers, 3 hershey bars all wrapped in decorative paper and tied with ribbon. I also add a cello bag filled with marshmallows and a small terra cotta dish (like the ones on the bottom of the pots) filled with tea lights and tied with ribbon. I also put in 6 wooden skewers tied together with ribbon. I then put the tag -Indoor S'more's Light the candles, toast the mallows sandwich with chocolate and grahams. Wishing your family a wonderful Christmas and so much s'more! This is fun because you really can toast the mallows with the little tealights."
Again thanks to all the wonderful stampers that come up with these ideas!
ok where do you find the paint cans???? i have one but i got it at a scrapbook store that was closing and now i dont know where to get them
I have found the paint cans at a hardware store. I have also used larger tins they sell for cookies ect. These are already painted all I had to do then was add a little paper. I was easy. I didn't have to cut the holes for the handle. I just left the color of the can showing on the top.
