Default OTT LITE

To everyone who has one of these lights a few questions:

1. Are they worth the money?
2. What model do you have?
3. Where can someone find a good deal on them?

TIA!
Karen

I have 2. I don't know the model #'s, but the one I use the most is the floor model with a 27 watt bulb. I use it a lot, and it really helps. I got mine when Joann had a 50% off sale on the Ott lamps. They seem to have the sales fairly often, so I would definitely wait as they are VERY expensive. HTH

I just ordered a light very similiar to Ott that is about half of the price. My mom found it in the Sunday coupons. It is called Balanced Spectrum floor lamp. With a mail in rebate, a floor lamp is $49.95. Go to www.firststreetonline.com and check it out.

1. Are they worth the money?

YES! I live in Alaska, the land where it gets dark really fast! I use it all the time. Used to have to have at least 3 lamps and my overhead light on in my stamp room to get decent light after 3pm. I now use my OTT LITE and sometimes my overhead and get true color lighting!

2. What model do you have?

I have U33050 It is a small desktop light that is really compact.

3. Where can someone find a good deal on them?

Go to www.everafterarts.com On the main page it has a picture of a lady with the lamp. Click on the lady to go to another page. The lamp that I have is the very first one. I thought it wouldn't be big enough when I ordered it and received it, but it is exactly what I needed. They are on sale for 49.99 plus free shipping in the continental US. BUT if you are a SU demo, you can get this OTT LITE for 1/2 off, but I don' t think you would get free shipping. I've ordered from them a few times and they are GREAT!

EDIT: Also, Fred Meyer seems to have started carrying them as well. Theirs are 59.99 and they also have the replacement bulbs. They have them in the section with the light bulbs.

Default Ott lite

They are well worth the money! I have the portable which I love because I can use it for stamping as well as projects in other parts of the house. JoAnn's frequently has 50% off coupons which is when I purchased my lite. Also bought a floor model at a steal on ebay!

I've been looking at these for a few years now. I have seen the lamps at Costco before, too, and at JoAnn's on sale... The actual cost of the lamp doesn't worry me so much as the cost of the replacement bulbs.

For those of you who have the lamps... do the bulbs seem to last a long time? How expensive are the replacement bulbs?

I'm just afraid it will be one of those items where they more than make up for the cost of the lamp in bulbs (like my electric toothbrush with the darn heads!)

Thanks!!
Caroline

I have the small, compact table OTT and love it! I work in a room that is not get much light, not even from the overhead light, this little light makes all the difference in the world.
I bought my light with a 50% coupon at our local craft store, but I have heard about Everafterarts which seems to have a great deal without a coupon.
I have not had to buy any replacement bulb yet, I have had my light about 2 years.

My dh just bought me an Ott true-color lamp two weeks ago at JoAnn's, when they had all the Ott lights 50% off (we paid around $50). It's a tabletop model with a swivel base (very handy feature) and a large handle at the top for easy mobility. So far it's working out great. As for the life expectancy of the bulb, the box claims "Tube rated 10,000 hours - lasts up to 10 times longer than standard incandescent bulb" but I haven't had it on for 10,000 hours yet so I can't back up their claim.

One thing I did notice and appreciate -- it's low-heat. I was concerned that any lamp giving off brighter light would give off more heat and not work well with some of our stamping supplies.

We noticed a similar type of lighting source at Costco WAY cheaper - I think it was $20-$25 range, but it wasn't an identifiable brand, didn't have some of the tabletop features and, truthfully, much as I LOVE Costco, I couldn't rationalize that a $20-$25 lamp could be as good as a $100 lamp at 50% off. Maybe someone else has purchased the Costco one and can report back??

Love my Otts! I have two--a floor model that I use for reading and sewing and a desk one for scrapbooking. It makes a huge difference in how colors look at night. It also helps with that creeping problem of "old eyes" I can sew and craft without my glasses with my Ott light on. I've had mine for 3 years and haven't replaced either bulb.

You can buy just an Ott bulb for regular lamps @ joann.com; unfortunately they're out of stock right now tho:

Default Ott Light

I have 2 Ott lights a fold-up model & a floor lamp. I got the small one originally for decorative painting. It's very portable & I take it to painting classes since the light is often poor at the places I paint. When other members of my household started using it I decided to also get the floor model. Now I use it for needlework as well as reading. I've had my Ott lights for about 5 years & have never replaced the bulbs.
Ott lights are the best. I wish I had one at work. I haven't been able to talk my boss into buying them.

I love my new ott-lite, My Christmas gift to myself. I don't know the model number, but it's the floor lamp, but it makes a huge difference. lisa

I have the compact OTT lite (don't know the model number) and I LOVE it! The only problem I had was that I thumped too hard with my stamps and kept knocking it off my desk! So I ended up getting a Daylight Lamp that clips to my desk. I still use the compact one if I am going to crops etc. It's very handy and the light really does make a difference.

I got the OTT lite from Joann's with a 50% coupon. I got the Daylight one from www.everafterarts.com - if you're a SU demo, you get a nice discount and Mike is great!

Is there much difference between the Ott brand and the Daylight brand models? I believe the Ott brand is more expensive so is it worth it?

Default Jo-Ann's ott lites are 50% off

I just wanted to let everyone know that I just got back from Jo_ann's-they have their OTT lites 50% off this week. I know they are also 50% off online too, but you have to pay shipping. My store did not have much of a selection-but still 50% off. I treated my eyes to a small desktop one!! Thank you to everyone who highly recommended these lamps-I know that I am going to love mine!

I went to JoAnn's this Am to check out the lights, and my store only had the 25W (250$) light for 50% off. The smaller ones were not on sale! :?

That's just annoying! I'll have to keep my eyes open for other deals.
