While I do love SU cs a lot, I really would like to branch out into the non SU cardstock world. Do any of you have favorite vendors of cs you use? I prefer the smooth type cs vs. any kind of 'texture' - so if you have any suggestions, I would love to hear it!
I love the Confetti cardstocks -- they come in a wide range of colors besides just the confetti white and cream in the SU catalog. Right now I'm on a confetti red kick making Valentine cards.
I love ColorMates paper because you can get so many different colors but the weight of the paper isn't as good as SU. It IS good for layering though. I also LOVE Bazzill paper. They do have a texture to them but only on one side. I also use James River Confetti paper as well as Wausau Exact Matte Coated and Expedex Brilliant White.

If you have a paper supply store near you (like XpedX), you can get paper sample booklets. I have a friend of a friend who works at place where they get these samples, use them for a year, and then they throw them out...unless I ask for them. Through these paper samples I discovered Fox River Confetti Papers, Neenah Linen (to DIE for cardstock). Some smooth papers are smoother than others. I personally prefer SU because all the guesswork is taken out of matching. But it's fun to explore the options. If you don't have a paper warehouse nearby, you can always check out Marco's paper and order their paper sample pack. They don't have the best prices, but they're not that bad.
Oh yeah, Beckett Expressions by Mohawk paper is a gorgeous smooth cardstock, VERY similar to SU's Whisper White smoothness. Joan B did a great comparison on her blog recently. Actually she did two, here's the other one.
Our old stamp store used to carry a lot of VIA cardstock, which is inexpensive and has nice earthy colors. I also like Neenah Classic Crest and Strathmore Elements. Strathmore Elements by Mohawk papers has pale colored cardstocks that have a faint pattern on them and are SO silky smooth. They come in lines, dots, squares and solids. Another recommendation is The French Paper CO. Their Speckletone line has neat smooth paper with flecks in them.
Last but not least, are Curious Papers. Their metallic papers apparently are similar to SU.
That should get you started!
I just discovered DCVW with the white ore thanks to some enablers here. It's great with the CB embossing!
Oh yes....I love the DCWV textured papers. Gives such a different look to your cards and scrapbooking too. It is thick and has a white core which is fun with the Cuttlebug and a sanding block.
I have just discovered and starting using a cardstock call Prism. It is dyed all the way through and has one smooth side as well as a textured side. The textured side is a little different from Bazzill. The texture is more subtle and random than a weave. So far, I am a huge huge fan as there is a color to match almost all of my Clearsnap (Chalk, Pigment, Ancient Page), Palette Hybrid and Ranger Inks. *major happy dance*
I love the colors that CTMH HAS. They have some colors we don't have.

It's someone who buys stamps they didn't normally like at first, only to see it in Split Coast Stampers gallery in a different perspective.
Bazzill, bazzill, bazzill...I love the variety of colors and I love that it does NOT have a white core.
Amen to that!!! Love the fact you can get packs with several shades of the same color. I like to use it to layer my Outlines stamps -especially the mandellas-I do stamp on the flat side and then layer onto the textured side for interest.
Speaking of papers, is anyone familiar with Eco-Africa papers? I found them a few years ago in a local stationary shop, but haven't seen them since. They are absolutely gorgeous, hand-made from elephant grass and other fibrous plants by African women in small villages. They give amazing texture and color to any paper craft! Would love to get my hands on some more so I can quit hoarding the small amount that I have left!
