Default New Silhouette Cameo

Just got a new Silhouette Cameo and used it today for the first time. I cut out the "heart box" (turned out really cute) but the mat is so very sticky. Does the mat lose it's stickiness after a while? I had to use my spatula to get it up and was afraid it was going to tear. I want to use the machine for some very intricate cutting, but am afraid they may be hard to get up from the mat. Any suggestions? Thanks.

sounds like a bad mat. but usable. take a tshirt and press all over the mat. this will make it much easier to use

I second what Joan said. I did the same thing with my mat and it definitely helped.

I just used mine for the first time today! Love it, and my mat was sticky but not so much that it was hard to remove the paper...

Doesn't matter what die cutting company you use all the mats are sticky. Ask me how I know. I have several cutters. I can say with a fact that Silhouette goes overboard, lol.

To condition the mat I scrub mine with a baby wipe. You can also pat the mat with a soft lint free cloth. I like old sheets. That helps condition your mat. Some people rub their hands all over the mat. I have OCD I am not doing this. The whole idea of sticky hands leaves me hyperventilating.

Arg! I found one paper that sticks and leaves behind some paper on the mat....SU :( The other two brands I have used I had no problems with.
