Does anyone know if the old cartridges will work in the new machine? It would be a pain to replace everything.
Yes the site says the new machine uses the old cartridges.
I know I am the first to jump to purchase "NEW" tools. But I think I will wait this one out. I had to go thru the hassle of returning two of my first Cricuts. Yes customer service was great but after spending $$$$ I think a product needs to be READY to use.
I do LOVE my cricut - now just need more time to use it.

So do you suppose the original will be any cheaper to buy now that there is a new one? Now I don't know what to do, buy the original or wait for the new one:rolleyes:

It's a tough call. It's a pain to cut all of my paper into 6" pieces, plus I can't use the whole length in the Cricut. I think if I didn't own one, I'd wait, it surely couldn't get more expensive when the new one comes out.
I think the "old" cricut will drop in price -- already has. I'm sooo glad I managed to snag one for 150. On the other hand, now I wish I had waited. On the 3rd hand, you know there will be an even better version a year from now. They do this on purpose to torture us!! LOL

Ok, I'm really trying to understand what the advantage to cutting 12x12 is. What on earth would you want something that big for? As it is, the current Cricut will cut 5.5 x 11+. I'm a big-time scrapbooker but I've seldom had the need to cut anything the full 5.5. Am I missing something great about the new Cricut???
The only thing I can see an advantage for is the tags/boxes cart... but as far as scrapping I really cannot figure out why you need something that big... maybe to cut out something HUGE to use as a background - kind of along the line of the Big Blossom SU BG stamp??? - maybe to cut out bigger cards? like full size ones?
I'm sure it will cut something that we will think we need, like a box. It sounds like it would be great if you were a teacher and wanted things to hang up on the wall. --you know A is for apple. It comes with a schoolbook font.
I'm thinkin' the mats are going to be more money for it, cause they are bigger, so that is something to think about, I find them expensive enough. I'm glad the new carridges will fit the old machine. Fabulour finds is one of the new ones and it looks cool, bookplates and label holders like Honeybun said.
I think I will end up getting the new one, too. It's not available til May so plenty of time to save up some money.
Another plus to having a 12x12 space is that you will waste less paper. Also, have you looked at the cool new features??? You can have the option of making everything fit, reversing the image, and a few other cool things. Also you can pick the mat size you use so you don't have to always use the big mat if you are working on a smaller project. There is a button that says "mat size". I have heard that it will be retailing for $299 but some might sell it for $195 like the first Cricut. This one also comes with two exclusive cartridges. That would be worth it just for that!!
I'm excited. I will keep my old Cricut, maybe even let my kids use it. Too much fun!!
Well I'm not gonna be jumping on the new Cricut bandwagon any time soon. After all the hoopla with the old Cricut and the drastic price drop, I'll hold off -- I'm just not *convinced* that I need the new one. The ONLY advantage I can really see would be with the Tags, Bags, Box and More cartridge and even then, it's a stretch for me. I'll spend my craft $$ on other things this year.
I dont think I will be jumping on the new one either. I just cant imagine needing/using one of the images larger than 5.5". I use mine all the time for my scrapbooking now and LOVE it! Janice

I have a birthday in April and with Mother's Day in May, I'm thinking it would be the perfect time to ask for this, and it's easy for my DH to buy. They may even carry it at Costco.com, even easier!

My DH was going to buy me one for just because at the first of the year. Our LSS told him to hold off that this one was coming at the price wasn't going to be much more. I think that Provo will be dropping the price if small on enow that they have a better one on the market. I think this is a much better machine as you have the screen to verify what you will be cuttin and won't have that waste.
I think it looks nice. However, I don't think I need full 12x12" cuts - 11" is plenty long for a scrapbook title. So, I'm happy with mine. Now what I really like are the new cartridges - the alphabets are so cute. Quikutz is also coming out with a digital cutter that allows you to download images to cut. So many fun things out there!

I just bought the cuddlebug this weekend rather than the cricut- I am glad I waited! Hope to see this out soon- planning on asking for it for my birthday or anniversary!!
I told my husband the new Cricut is exactly what I had to have for our anniversary in June. The big advantage I see is that I can now cut those big pieces of cardstock just like Bazzill sells with the scalloped edges. It will be my first and I can hardly wait.
I saw them demo this at CHA. Everyone was ohhhing and ahhhhing. They were marketing it as the Cricut Expressions is a larger machine for home and the Cricut Personal was for mobile, on the go use. Look in the gallery and there is section for Winter CHA. In that gallery is a make n take I did with a big Mickey Mouse die cut. That die cut is about 6.5 inches X 10.5 inches. Very cute!
Today DH told me that he would buy me a Cricut for my birthday!!!
I saw on the Provo craft website that there is a new bigger and better Cricut.
Does anyone know how much this will be? And when it will be released?
He thinks I should get the bigger one, but I don't want him spending an arm and a leg...when we all know the price will drop in a few months ;) But I figure if it's only $100 more than an little one...then it would be *so* worth it!!

Just went to www.provocraft--saw cricut expression and clicked on it as I didn't know what it was--12 inch cricut--has mats 12X24 and 12X12. Does anyone know anything about this new cricut??
