I think this theory might be right. I used to have issues with dirty edges, but since I changed my cuttlebug 'sandwich' I haven't had the problem. When cutting with my nesties, I put the A plate down first, then my dirty B plate, then my cardstock image facing UP, then the nestie cut side DOWN, then the C plate. This way, if any dirty marks get on the paper it is on the back side.
I use this sandwich because I am able to see exactly where I am cutting around the image. It makes sense though, that the dirtiness is coming from our 'colorful' B plates. I hope this works for others, let us know!
While I agree that this might be the issue for some people, it is not the case for me. My dirty edges are on the top of the paper, where only the die itself has touched. I think it is some type of residue from the die or chemical reaction between the paper and die, or something. You know like when you were a kid and you wore really cheap rings and they turned your finger green? Something like that. I'm looking forward to seeing what Spellbinders finds out. Hopefully it will be something we can do ourselves, so it doesn't cost them to fix it.
I've noticed this a few times ~ but as another poster commented ~ I love this babies & wouldn't give them up for anything ~ they make my life so much easier & are such a dream to store ~ I'm going to try the gum erasure to see ~ most of the time the amount is so minimal it really hasn't bothered me...
I have the same problem. My first set (circle) are ok, my second set (rectangular) I ordered from England leave dirty edges and I haven't been able to remove it from the cardstock. I will try sanding it, but I hope it won't damage the cardstock. I hope that a solution can be found soon, I love my nestabilities and I cannot find them here, so I order them from the U.S. or England.

I agree with this. If it was just colored paper it would brush right off. My edges are grayish.

Same for me. I happens with some of the dies and not with others. It is definitely a metallic smudge on the front of the cardstock not dust from colored paper.
It doesn't happen every time and of course, doesn't show up except on white or pastels.

I always sandwich and cut this way, (except for the long 2x6 Cuttlebug dies). As Jennifer said, the dirty marks are on the top - the image side.
I've had this problem too. I usually don't mind and if it is really noticeable I sand the end of my paper a bit and it comes right off. I'm not surprised by it....we are smashing the metal soo hard into the paper that it cuts it... no surprise that it might leave a little residue there! I wonder if washing the dies with a solution of baking soda and water would help? I use it on silver often and it takes tarnish right off.....it would be a mild abrasive also, so it might clean the die right up....I may have to try it!
Love my nestibles and they've done this from the beginning (cuttlebug using Papertrey and Neehnah papers usually). Figured its just what they do. Will try the washing them as suggested. Subscribing to keep track.

Mine is the copper flakes. I purchased the squares and rectangles ages ago and this never happened. Only since I've received the newest ones, which actually are all the scalloped ones so far. It's hard to get off the cardstock once it is scalloped. I will try cleaning with toothbrush like we were instructed.

I was hoping to buy these soon, but I don't want to invest in something that seems to be having issues (especially if the issues are only on the newest ones). Hopefully these problems can be solved.
This also happens to me all the time and I just use my sanding block to lightly get them off. I have ordered them in waves and have noticed it with all sets, so I don't think it is one shipment or the other. It definitely looks like metal flakes and not colored paper dust or whatever. It is the same color each time and I notice it more when cutting out white shapes. It isn't a huge deal, although annoying, and I would not give my Nesties up for nothing! haha! But it is nice to know this isn't in my head! haha!
This is happening with my circles set. I never had a problem with my rectangles/scallops sets which I bought months ago. Thanks for starting this thread....
Subscribing as I was about to purchase the nesties too. I think I'll wait to hear the outcome of this thread. Thank you for raising awareness of the issue.
I don't have a mark but the edge on some of my ovals is starting to undo, like a metal thread. This doesn't effect my cuts at all but it looks bad and I wonder how it will hold up.
I bought them in October/November and use them a lot, on SU and PTI paper.
Yep, I'll join those of you who have this issue. I usually just take a stiff stipple brush and brush it off. I've not had a problem with it stubbornly staying, so it's really not an issue for me. I LOVE my nestys and megas and they would have to pry them from my cold dead hands before I'd give 'em up!
Subscribing. Like many of you I thought it was just me and I got a bad package.
In answer to Julie in Indy: I am using SU cardstock and it does not matter in the color. I still get the "dirty" edge. I don't know if this helps, but I have the regular and scalloped circles and I bought mine about a month ago.
Just a thought and no I haven't tried this and no I don't think this should have to be done.....
Anyhow, what if those of us that have some of these sanded the actual die? I would think that would take the color off the die, hence no marks on the paper.
I just bought some of these yesterday at a scrapbooking convention. Haven't tried them yet but hope this isn't an issue. I'm sure that Stacey will fix it though. I met her at the convention and found her to be very genuine. A true family operation. I'm subscribing to keep updated. Thanks to all for the suggestions.
