Have the silhouette SD and very pleased until lately.
My edges are very raggedy. Bought the new blade and a new mat and cannot get a good cut.
I'm using both A Muse and Papertrey cardstocks. Is it my machine or is it me?? Any suggestions on speed, settings? I always double cut and have tried a million combinations and no luck.
Help please!!

Make sure the tiny blade inside is facing the right direction. I always cut at a speed of 3, thickness of 33 and double cut. I sometimes get ragged edges with Bazzil, maybe try thinner cs?
Is the blade facing the right way? I know in the Silhouette I have, there is a little notch on the blade holder, and this can either be facing you, or facing to the right.
Did you buy the new click blade holder? Is is possible you have a bad one?
I don't think that the new blade holder fits the Silhouette sd.
Joan, if you've tried a new mat and a new blade I would check the blade position. The users manual does say 3:00.
Check page 48 of the users manual (bottom right corner) and it will give you the information. I would copy and paste but it is a pdf. Go to the start window and look under the "help" button for the users manual.
I just found out the booklet that came with my Silhouette. In there, it says that the notch should be in the 3 o clock position when using the mat, and the 6 o clock position if you are not using the mat. That suggests to me that it cuts slightly deeper in one of the positions, so if you are having trouble, it may be worth trying the other position.
nothing works, i tried many kinds of cardstock already. cannot figure out the calibration thing -- will call silhouette tomorrow. thanks anyway. I appreciate the suggestions.

Is that what you're using? The ratchet blade? If you had clean cuts before but now it's giving you ragged edges with the same card stock, it sounds like a bad blade.
I had to have mine replaced with the Cameo and what a difference it made. I had the same problem with the ragged edges. The intricate detail I used to cut with the SD was a nightmare with the Cameo...until I had the blade replaced.
It's probably a good idea to contact them, I found them to be very helpful. Hope it gets resolved soon for you, there's nothing worse than wanting to use your cutter and not being able to!
There is nothing more frustrating than having an expensive piece of equipment that doesn't work like it should and puts you off using it, then taunts you from the corner...

Hi,
I need some advice. I am thinking of buying a sylhouette cameo in the new year.
Up to now I have a wizard and cuttlebug so I am a newbie to the elecric cutter.
Is it very difficult to learn?
Have a nice day,
