Default Name of Acrylic that is melted for jewelry??

I am wearing a beautiful Turkey pin that I purchased last year at a craft fair. It is made from the acrylic that you melt down and form into objects. I remember this craft fad from many years ago. I think that the plastic came in strips in various colors including metallic and you melt it together ?? I want to make some of these to give out to my friends but cannot locate the product anywhere. Do any of you have a clue as to what I am talking about? And if so, the name and where I can purchase the supplies. I have searched eBay and net with no luck. :(

Is it Friendly Plastic? I googled it and found it at www.sunshinecrafts.com Hope this helps!
