Default My cutterpede bites- what am I doing wrong?

I am now on Cutterpede #3. My first cutterpede was the orignal green and I thought it worked great. I then got the newer pink version as a gift and used as a scoring tool. My green cutterpede's arm broke and now I cant cut anthing longer then 5 inches. Sooooo... I bought at new pink one to use as a replacement. BUT IT DOSENT CUT STRAIGHT!!! I am getting the wierdest angles on that thing. Im about to throw them all away and get a different type of paper trimmer.
Has anybody else experianced this- your cutterpede no cutting 90 degree angles/straight lines? And what is your recommendation for buying a new paper trimmer. It is ultra important that I get *perfect* straight lines, as I sell alot of projects!!! I prefer not to use a guillotine (sp?) type, but I will if that will get me the BEST straight lines.
Thanks for your time and help!!
-Patty

The Making Memories Precision Trimmer is my all around favorite. It never needs sharpening. You do have to line up your paper straight with the grid, and hold it down firmly. But it cuts straight as can be. I love mine.

They sell it lots of places online, but I got mine at Mike's with a coupon.

I have a Fiskars Deluxe Portable Trimmer I got mine through SU but I have seen the same ones at Walmart and Hobby lobby. IMO they are a little bit more expensive, but well worth it.

I have the pink cutterpede and I love it. The blades last so much longer than my previous cutter. If you are getting crooked cuts make sure when you have the arm extended you don't have the paper edge butted up against it. Make sure the paper is butted up against the edge on the base unit. Use the arm for measuring but not "leaning" against.
I also have the scorer and the scallop blades. It gives the sharpest cuts.

If straight cuts are a must, I'd get on the waiting list for a Genesis trimmer---very pricey but cuts straight. No other trimmer (that you can get at an LSS atleast) cuts perfectly straight. I know as I work at an LSS. Possibly a more expensive trimmer from an office supply store might actually cut straight, but I wouldn't know as I've learned to embrace imperfection with my Fiskars rotary trimmer(I would have driven myself crazy otherwise!!!!).

I tried so many different trimmers and never received a good cut. I broke down and bought the Tonic guillotine trimmer and have never had a problem since. It is wonderful and affordable. I bought the 12" with the 6" base and loved it so much that I also bought the 6" trimmer. HTH!
