Memento Trick

This is going to sound like a strange question. I bought my first Memento ink pad several years ago at a CK convention. I remember the rep showing me some cool thing about how you can press the lid (when closed) against the pad to pick up color and then you can...

I don't remember why that was a great thing! LOL Would I paint with it? Thinking the dye ink would be too quick to dry for that to be a technique I'd use with these.

I have done this with my su dye ink pads - you can paint with it using a blender pen or an aquapen.

That is one of my favorite techniques! It makes it so that you can color in any color stamp pad ink you have. You can also use a cd case or the lid of your ink pad and stamp directly on it and use that to mix your water and paint. I also love to paint with the diluted re-fill inks!

And the ink does not as fast as you would think because the lid is non-porous. This works with many brands of inks, not just Memento.

If you have inks where it's not possible to smoosh them into the lid (like small cubes, for example), you can also smoosh them onto an acrylic block or nonstick craft sheet and pick them up with an aquapen or paintbrush (I hate aquapens - I just use paintbrushes and have a cup of water nearby to use if needed). That's also a good way to get several colors next to each other to blend into other shades...
