I am currently using mostly PTI inks and cardstock. Since PTI is going thru a change on all their inks, what would be another good choice for matching inks and cardstock? Stampin up? CTMH? Any thoughts appreciated-Thanks
I don't think there is another site that offers as much opportunity to see SU colors used and color challenges each week to inspire us crafters, so SU. We have weekly color challenges, and a gallery that is out of site for colors to view on cards. I'm not a demo,
but find I waste less time putting combinations together, because I get my inspiration here. yeh splitcoast stampers

I prefer SU cardstock and ink--why I am a SU demo, but I must say that I prefer CTMH for their pattern paper. For my cards, I use SU cardstock as it is solid core, while CTMH's cardstock is white core and not quite as heavy. Both companies match ink and cardstock.
I use SU cardstock and ink. I don't want to waste time & money trying to match ink and cardstock from various companies.
I also like that SU is solid core. White core CS is a problem if you cut intricate dies like Spellbinders Pendants. There is no way to sponge the edges.
Gina K's has some great colors and I would by them if they were sold in packs with one color in each package. However, they are only sold in packs with an assortment of colors.
I don't buy assortments of anything. Too much ends up not being used.

THANKS!! I have never been able to find the single color packs on her site. I bought a couple of assortment packs and wanted more of some of the colors
I book marked it so I can find it when I place my next order
Thanks again!!

On this similar topic, I am just starting out about 8 months in to card making (Gee I have accumulated a lot of "stuff" in a short period of time). I started out with SU as that is how I got into card making. I have quite a few of SU inks pick up second hand and a number of the craft spots ( thought I would do more embossing). I would like to know which other companies card stock matches SU. Now I can't or won't order from Papertrey Ink, just cause of cost of shipping here to Canada. I was looking at Gina K as one source, just wanted to know what might match the inks first.
I got rid of my PTI for the same reason, so i feel your pain. I just went back to my tried and true Stampin' Up! I already had a lot of their colors so it just made sense for me to do that rather than start in with an offering from a completely different company.
I have a Word document that lists a few Bazzill paper matches for some SU colors but I can't figure out how to attach it!
Someone tell me how to attach a Word doc???
When you hit reply and the screen come up. There on the top are a whole bunch of icons, there is one that looks like a paper clip (just the paper clip). that is the one that should work. It's right after the smiley face
Okay trying to attach the Word doc with Bazzill color matches to SU colors. It's a few years old, and I don't remember who originally posted it or I'd give them credit...
I use SU CS too and I have been happy with it. I use a different white for my Copic markers and do not use the SU black stamp pad since it's too purple. I use Memento black or Palette Noir.
For ease of matching I would say SU too. I haven't been a demo for that long but when I first started stamping 6 years ago I tried to be cheap and get stuff at Michael's but nothing ever seemed to match just right so guess what ended up being donated to a preschool?? Yup all the non-SU stuff. I find it's a lot less time consuming running around to different stores or websites trying to find matches to stuff. SU might not have the most colors of everything but everything does match and you won't buy something hoping it matches, you know it will match.
I have always used Memento and Verasamagic inks to match with my PTI cardstock even before they phased out their inks. I could never give up my PTI cardstock -- it is GOLD in my book! PTI's forum has several posts listing what non-PTI inks people have found match their cardstock.

I totally agree! As a new stamper I found the only economical way was to buy SU CS and Ink. In the beginning I also bought CS and DP packs on sale only to find I had nothing to match it. I didn't save money I wasted it . Maybe for people with a huge supply of CS and various brands of ink they can buy CS or DP packs on sale and have ink and ribbon to match.

This works unless they have a major colour change! I right now have many retired colours in ink, but not the cardstock. I need alternatives for matching cardstock. I grabbed some that were in the clearance on SU website on the weekend but only about 4 of the 15-20 colours I have. Suggestions
My only problem with SU ink and paper is RETIRED stuff.. What a pain in the butt having to track down more retired ink or cardstock or having to buy the NEW colors because you can't find refills for your old ones...
PLUS PTI cardstock is amazing, IMO can't be beat. I'd rather do a little work to find matching ink (PTI forum search) than change to another brand all together.

just my 2cents. :O)
Yes, it can be a pain if you have retired items but what I've found is that after awhile I no longer want to use the retired items. When marvelous magenta retired I thought OMG what am I going to do. I bought extra paper and a couple of refills for my classic pad. Well I still have paper and haven't finished up one of the refill inks. I've found that I like to stay with the trends and now my once beloved MM just sits.
All companies retire their lines and at least SU only retires colors every few years whereas companies like Basic Grey you may not find their paper after a few months. The bottom line is we all have a risk in finding what we like, it's just some companies are not so risky. ;)
I think SU is the best for cardstock and ink. And I love their DSP because I know it will match my cardstock and ink but I have branched out into other areas of DSP too and can still find a color in there that matches really closely my SU cardstock and/or ink. If you are new to the SU game then, yes, they recently did have a big ole retirement of colors but I kept all my colors and just added. The new colors are fabulous and on trend so they will be able to match many things that are out there right now.
I also love GinaK cardstock! I use her Pure Luxury 120 lb. white and vanilla exclusively because you can use it for card bases! (PS...her stamps rock!) She also does some comparisons of her cardstock color vs. SU and PTI, I think)
I have heard wonderful things about PTI cardstock also but I have so much darned cardstock to use right now I cant justify it yet....but someday I will try it.
