I am not an artist so have to coloring background. After trial and error, I use Copic markers (find it easier to blend with these markers) and Prisma colored pencils (just learning to use these also).

Good luck! Everyone has their favorites so just try with different mediums and use the one you eventually become most comfortable using.

I use Touch Twin markers. They are alcohol based and blend beautifully.

I also use the Touch Twin markers. I actually recently blogged a video on colouring skintones with them (blog link is in my signature).

Stacy, I use the Touch Twin markers, combined with Bics and Sharpies. I tend to use markers more often than pencils, because I think it's a little faster process. But I do have a nice set of Prismacolor Premier Pencils.

If you decide on the Prismacolor pencils, I would suggest looking on ebay. You can pick up some nice sets there for a reasonable price.

If you aren't sure which method you want to use, I would suggest maybe getting a set of Crayola or Roseart colored pencils to see if you like coloring with pencils before you invest in the Prismacolors. They are pretty pricey.

The same thing goes for the markers. You might want to pick up a couple of the Copic markers at Michaels using a coupon to see if you like coloring with markers before you invest in a whole set. You can also find the Bics and Sharpies in sets for a reasonable price, too.

For the most part, I use Markers...........Touch Twin. When I'm not doing that, I use Prisma pencils and Watercoloring with reinkers
