Ok I hate to sound like a broken record but I need help. I had decided on the Marvy brush art markers but then I saw the Tombow. Help???? Can anyone shed light on the two? I want the most colors, and also to be able to color my stamps instead of using stamp pads. I seem to get a better stamp using markers. Also I want to be able just to stamp with a black ink pad and then color or blend the image. I would appreciate any help. I have every color in su but I want some different ones. Thanks Kei ([email protected])

Tombow Markers are like Marvy Markers both are waterbased markers.
Tombow Markers come with a Blending Pen. to use for watercoloring. You can pick up color with the blending pen or wipe one of the markers onto something smooth. and pick up the color that way.
Both Markers are good.
Coloring with your choice of Markers, Pencils, is a personal thing.
I have a full set of Tombow Markers and I use them from time to time.
There are many many different types of markers out there for us to use.
I don't have much success coloring directly on stamps with Tombow, either clear or rubber. I don't know why, it doesn't stamp very nicely. The best for this are either Stampin Up markers or the Marvy Brush markers that Dee Gruenig endorses. However if you want to watercolor with markers, Tombows are best. I have an assortment of markers, but use the Tombows and SU exclusively.
I use have SU, Tombows, and Marvy's and I use the Marvy's the most for coloring on stamps. These are the marvy brush markers, not LePlume.
There is something about the ink in the Marvy's that color on stamps the best. It doesn't bead up or run.
Tombows are next best on coloring on the stamps. The ink is a little thinner.
As for watercoloring with markers - I color on a plastic pallette and then pick up the color with a blender pen or paint brush. Do put your blender pen or marker directly on the marker, it pulls the ink out of the marker and will dry out your marker way too fast.
When color on a stamp with a marker, use the side of the marker, not the tip. You'll ruin the tip and there are not replacement tips. If a tip get's messed up, I cut it off straight with my scissors.
Dee Gruenig sells a marker stand where your markers are stored vertically, but everything I've ever read says to store your markers horizontally. I have mine stored horizontally and have had them for years.
Art Impressions has a great technique for watercoloring your stamps with Marvy's so does StampintheHand.
In a pinch, I'll color a stamp with SU, but I really do prefer Marvy's.
i use crayola markers for coloring directly on the stamp. i can usually find an 8 pack for $2 on sale, and there are tons of colors.
i also use Zig brush markers, but i use those more to color in the image and not on the actual stamp

Isn't it funny how we get so caught up in the brands that are "acceptable" for stamping that we forget the basics? I'll admit, I don't have any crayola (but I do have Bic :-) ) either...
I love my Tombow markers, both for stamping and for coloring... Right now, I am into coloring my images with colored pencil, though. I really like the shading I can achieve and the results I am getting with mixing colors!
