Default Magic Mesh Revisited

I know we discussed this once before but I recently purchased the drywall tape, a substitute for the magic mesh. How are you coloring this product. I laid it on a stamp pad and used a sponge to pat it to color but it seems rather messy and not consistant in color. I went to the gallery and there are tons of cards done with this stuff so I am hoping to have some imput on this. What a great site!

I have had the best luck coloring the drywall tape with stazon ink. I use the self adhesive drywall tape, cut a piece a little larger than the size I need and put in down on a piece of wax paper. I then pat it well with the stazon pad. I dries great and colors very well. Hope this helps

I've never tried it myself, but my demo does it using a brayer with a foam roller. Worked great in her demo.

I use Staz-on. But the pigment pads work well, you just need to heat set it. I also like to emboss it.

Believe it or not, I chalked mine and had good results. Gives it a more rustic look but worked well!

1 - emboss - I just did copper this weekend. loved it!

2 - color with sharpies. Lots of threads on this one. Look for many colors of sharpies at Wal Mart or Staples. Dry with heat gun. Even colored with the pastel markers, it shows up and looks great.

(I tried stamping/rubbing the mesh with the Encore metallic pads, but even with the heat gun it wouldn't dry. I ended up pouring clear embossing powder over it to set the ink.)

I am so lost. What the heck do you do with Drywall tape and magic mesh?

When you emboss, do you use Versamark? Also, if you stick it down to color it, does it peel back up to put on your card?

Thanks!

When I emboss I do use the Versamark. And yes, if you put it down to color it, you can lift it up and it will stick again (and again).

LadyScrppr - we are using drywall mesh instead of the magic mesh sold in the catalog. It is MUCH cheaper.

If you will type in Mesh in the forum search you will find many posts dealing with this.

If you will type in Mesh in the gallery search you will see many beautiful cards using magic mesh. You can check my gallery for a few cards using mesh.

I LOVE this stuff. Please let me know if I can answer anymore questions.

I just told my DH that when we go buy my paint cans, I'm going to have to buy Drywall Mesh also! That'l be my weekend project. Now that I have some ideas on how to color it, what works best to get it to stick???

I found a partial roll of drywall tape today when I was cleaning up the basement (yeah, I do occasionally do nonstamping related stuff) and used it to make cards. Then I used the Magic Mesh I've been "saving" for something special (don't we all do that??). Anyway, I like the drywall tape better, because it's not as stretchy, and I could get it on the CS without it getting all out of shape. The Magic Mesh gets all wonky and doesn't stay as straight.
